Question about Sony VAIO PCG-K25 Notebook
Either your inverter went bad or your backlight did use a light and shine it down the screen at an angle if you can see anything then it's the ccfl(s) if it's totally black then it's probably the inverter which is better because it's easier to replace and costs about $15-$20 the ccfls go for around $15 but there are usually 2 and you have to dismantle the lcd and solder them to wires to replace them

If the function key toggle won't bring it back, it's likely that you need a new screen. Check the connection to the mobo and the wires that run through the hinge. If nothing is broken, I'd search ebay for replacement screen, or you can pay through the nose and send it in. Screens are not cheap, in either case.
