Question about ViewSonic Precision Pro8100 Projector
It appears that this problem is common for this projector. The problem can be solved by unplugging it each time? Crappy, but for me it's intermittent and frustrating. You can send it back to Viewsonic, but risk getting the same problem in another projector or someother issue more serious? One person suggested a timer that shuts it down fully each night? I will probabaly tray that too. So disappointed.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

My solution sounds dumb, I had the same issue. Took the lamp cover off the bottom. The screws were loose holding in the lamp. Maybe they heat and expand and eventually work their way out and the lamp doesn't make good contact. Just tightened mine up, the unit would power off after 45 minutes prior. Been on now for 5 hours, no trouble.

i have the same problem, a clear image, the the projector shuts down, turn the fan on, and "lamp" blinks.
i returned my projector to viewsonic service center, they told me to change the lamp.
the problem is that a lamp is very expensive!

if the lamp shuts off and the projector still runs, it's a cool down mode, and will shut off when it reaches a low enough temp. if the lamp doesn't shut off and none of the keys work, the keypad may be faulty. or locked. some projectors have a keypad lock feature that makes it so only the remote can be used. check your manual for keypad lock/unlock.

2 issues- the light filter on one of the lcd panels is burnt due to excessive dust and heat. and one of the lcd panels is shot. time to replace the entire optical engine, unless you can get the prism assembly. otherwise, replace the projector. if you do, remember to keep it clean.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the help. Looks like the trash for this one!"
SOURCE: I have a Viewsonic PJ558D
You need to reset the lamp timer. This is likely your problem since you changed the lamp.
Turn the projector on. open the menu. Go to advanced. Scroll down to the first option which should be auto source. Make sure this option is checked. While on this option press right once, left twice, right 3 times, then left 4 times. Another menu will appear. Scroll to lamp time and push enter. This will take it back to zero.
