Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 Digital Camera

Open Question

The view field does not open to take pictures. Other functions, ie playback etc seem to be OK. What could be wrong and would repairs be worth the cost. The camera is three years old.

Yes the camera can be repaired easily for that amount.

I have a Sony DSLR A-300 and the lcd screen on the back of the camera goes white when I take pictures. How to fix this?

The camera has live-view, so is the LCD always white? Can you play back old pictures or view menus properly? Do your pictures turn out white or are they ok?

If it's always white and you can't see anything, you need the LCD replaced or the cable going from the main PCB to the LCD replaced. 99% likely the LCD, not the cable.

If you can playback old pictures and view menus... but NEW pictures turn out white then it's not a problem with the LCD screen at all, it's the CMOS or something else.

Without knowing more detail it's hard to say exactly what's wrong, but it definitely sounds like the camera needs repair.

My Nikon D60 monitor is dark...no image preview, however, playback for viewing pictures taken works fine. I use the viewfinder for taking pictures, but wonder if I've done something to turn off the monitor...

No, you have done nothing wrong. The D60 does not have the preview function on the monitor like the compact digital cameras. Nikon gave that function a name. It is called 'Live View'. The newr models like the D90 do have that feature. You can read further about your D60 here: www.digitalcamera-hq.com

My pictures are out of order. how can i fix that?

First, are you trying to view the photos on your camera, or is this after you've downloaded them onto your computer?

I took a look at my Cyber-Shot and it looks like it sorts photos strictly by the numbering sequence, not by date. I couldn't find a way to prioritize it to view by date in the playback menus either. Have you tried viewing them in index mode? You can do this by pushing the "Home" button while in playback mode. From there you can pick either single, index or slide show mode. If you have already tried this, do the photos still show up out of sequence?

If you are trying to view your photos on your computer, it's a simple fix, and it's only slightly different from Mac to PC. When you have the folder open containing all the photo files, simply click on the field at the top of the columns that you want to view them by, i.e., "file size", "file type", "date modified", etc.

When camera is switch on the menu shows but no picture/image

Your camera seems to have ccd chip problem. Image chips goes bad sometimes and when you play recorded image it is ok but when you want to turn on the camera to take picutures, you'll see scrambled image or no image at all. The remedy for this symptom requires a replacement of ccd chip. The average repair for ccd problem is $100-$130 in the repair market. -James

How do i get my video to playback? with-out taking the memory card out?

There is usually a physical switch where you move from viewing pictures/vidoes to taking pictures. Here there should be a setting for viewing. If not, then there usually is a menu option when you are viewing pictures/videos. Not sure which model of camera you are using, so I am not sure how to tell you specifically.

For Canon cameras, usually a menu button or function button. If you press this while viewing your photos, it should bring up a menu that has a play, stop, fast forward, erase, etc buttons on the screen.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Powershot S1 IS trouble shooting in images of lcd monitor

Try playing back pictures you know were captured properly ( either with another properly working camera or with your camera before the problem with quality has appeared ). If the image is ok in playback but 'noisy' in capture mode then the CCD sensor is faulty /on its way out. Ask Canon if they repair CCD faults on this model free of charge.
