My iphone 3g can receive texts but can't send...why?

make your your messaging is turned on by going to settings> cellular> Data

In the settings app, under Messages, be sure to go to "Send & Receive" and make sure you are starting new messages from your phone number and not email address. this is a feature of iMessage.

Locate the messages settings in the settings app, then find the iMessage settings, then send and receive and only select the addresses you wish to have for iMessage.

First make sure set up for MMS is correct and whoever sends pics sends as MMS.

I would attempt to turn iMessage (in Settings) off and then attempt to send messages, if this does not solve the problem I would contact AT&T to see if there is an error on their side.

The setting might be changed from the phone itself, also check the POP3 settings

it might be a software trouble do resetting the setttings the the phone wil be as new

You won't be able to send MMS on your iphone unless it's "unlocked" or as they call it "jailboken"...but I would not recommend this! You can send a picture through an email...just send the picture as an attachment. Just send it like you would any email on your computer.
