Built in webcam problem

I have a HP Pavillion dv6. I can not take pictures or videos off of my built in HP webcam. They are only able to be viewed from the webcam menu, which makes the webcam kinda useless. Thank you for your time.

To hanfma, open hp mediasmart webcam, click on Settings, under CAPTURE, GENERAL, you will see - Caption Folder (this is where all your pics and video you take with the webcam are stored) it's like C:\users\Owner'documents\webcam - go to that folder and you can retrieve, copy, move, or delete, pictures or video... Note that you must exit settings before you can close the hpmsmart window.

The pictures you take cannot be directly taken from the HP webcam program. Instead, you can delete any photos you take to send them to the recycle bin. From there, the photo files can be dragged outside of the bin. Then you can do whatever you would like to with the photo files.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Try this method

Follow the instructions below to use your webcam

Another way is to use a IM application like Yahoo messenger,NetMeeting, etc. They will have video capabilities that will work with your webcam.

I need to know if my Presario CQ50-110US comes with a built in webcam. And if so how do you access it?

According to the HP website, the unit shows as having an HP Pavillion Webcam. I found XP drivers for the HP Pavillion Webcam, but I'm not sure if it works with the Compaq. Try it and see.

The webcam turns on whenever you launch a video chat program or a webcam software program. Debut and Photo Booth are two good programs for taking webcam pictures and videos. You can get the free download links in this article.
