Hi,

You'll need to replace the power bud. Take it to a certified technician and get it fix, it would cost you less than $80 to get it fixed.

Good Luck

Hi,

More likely as you can see the blinks, so the power is entering into the TV. More likely, it's a power supply failure. You need to open the TV and check the board. You would find certain capacitors/diodes blown. They would either be leaked or swelled. This would be general observation.

Then, take out the multimeter and check the continuity across them and replace each specific resistor. It's better to repair the board, if that's a minor fault rather than going for a new board. The resistors might be available with many online vendors.

If you are not handy at electronics, i would advise you not to play with it as it might cause damage to the set. In that case, seek a local tech.

Let me know, if need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

When you unplug and again plug, that's Soft Reset. You can still try that a couple of times, if that could fix the issue.

If we talk about repair, if he would replace the board, which sometimes is not required, only changing Few IC's would work, would cost you around 200 bucks including the labor charges. Unless around 350 bucks.

Again it depends on which tech you hire. Sometimes, local tech who do have knowledge to repair boards are better.

    Hope i helped you.

LED Indications

The front panel Status LED provides an indication of

the set's operation and the possible cause of a malfunction.

If an abnormal condition is indicated, perform the

Self Diagnostics procedure.

Self Diagnostics

To activate, press the front panel <ACTIVITY> &<CH

The STATUS LED will then flash denoting a two digit

Switch ON the TV, at least two times, and make sure about how many times do this front LED blinks, at one time switch ON. These blinks are fault indications. From the number of blinks occur, you can get an idea about the faulty section circuit inside the TV. If you wish to know more about the blinking codes and other details http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ try this link. Pull up older posts there by its left side bar. Blinking codes to many brand TVs are given in detail.

My Sony Trinitron tv is not turning on. It has turned on a couple of times, but the standby light on the front is blinking. WHat's wrong?

Sony TV LED & Blinking Codes - What Does It Mean When Standby/Timer Light Flashes

Sony has provided a "self-diagnosis function" with your TV, that in the case of abnormalities or problems the LED or red blinking light on the Timer/Standby indicator flashes a number of times to indicate the issue.
when there is trouble with your Sony Television set -- it indicates the issue in either the diagnostic mode, or even more commonly by flashing a series of LED blinks or flashes on the front of your television. Each set or frequency of the blinks indicates a very specific problem with the television itself.
Sorry but unless you may be able to repair the television set yourself , please call a local repair shop to the have a repairman sent out,,

I have Sony 40inch breviary. My tv is not turning on I reset tv but it still not working. Stand by light keep blinking but tv is not turning

Hello
Blinking of standby light in Sony telivisions are fault indications. You just count the number of blinks occur at a time when the set is switched On with its FRONT PANEL POWER SWITCH. Count it three or more times, and make sure about its number of blinks and inform me through Fixya. From that number, I can get into the fault section, sometimes more accurate to the location of the fault. Count it Keenly for at least three times and make sure before reporting. OK.

Still sounds like a lamp:

TV won’t turn on
• Press the TV button or ON/OFF button while remote is in TV mode and there’s a source of power to the outlet or outlet strip.
• Make sure the TV is plugged in.
• You might have tried to turn on the TV during the lamp cool-down. Wait a few moments and the picture will appear.
• Has the power light on the front of the TV been blinking for one minute? If so, the lamp may be dead. Refer to the Power indicator
is blinking or fl ashing
section below for more information.
• When you fi rst plug your TV into an outlet, the Power indicator on the front panel will light and blink for approximately 30 seconds
and then go off during the initialization of the TV. This happens only when power is reapplied to the TV. The TV can only be turned
on after the Power indicator goes off.
• Check the wall receptacle (or extension cord) to make sure it is “live” by plugging in something else, such as a lamp.
• Something might be wrong with your remote control. Press the POWER button on the front of the TV. If the TV turns on, check the
remote control solutions on page 84.
Remote Setup might be set to the wrong option. Press MENU/OK on the front panel. Select Connections, then Special Features, then
Remote Setup. Choose TV (default).
Power indicator is blinking or fl ashing
If the light blinks 5 times, pauses, and blinks again 5 times, the lamp is trying to turn on. If the TV doesn’t turn on after 5 minutes and
then the light blinks steadily for one minute, one of the following options is possible:
• Lamp door may be open.Face the back of the TV. Locate the door at the bottom of the TV and close it. Turn off the TV and turn
back on. The lamp should turn on.

You can easily replace the lamp yourself by following the lamp replacement instructions. If your TV is still covered by
the warranty, call 1-866-723-6486 to receive troubleshooting assistance and a lamp replacement.
• If your TV’s warranty has expired, call 1-800-338-0376 to purchase a lamp replacement.

To order the correct lamp, you’ll need to know your TV’s model number, serial number, and lamp type—this
information is listed on the Service Model Number sticker (example of the sticker is shown above). Face the back of
the TV. The sticker is located on the right side of the TV.

Hope this helps :)
