Astar ltv2701 Power Supply

I have had the issues where it takes forever to turn on and off, which is indeed the Power Supply unit. I know some of you guys have some good connections to get the capacitors needed in repairing the PSU on that board. I am looking for someone to fix this for me and an estimate on what it may cost. I will ship the board to whomever, and whatever parts are needed I can buy separate as well. Let me know.

It took forever to power up, then it stoped powering up all together. If I wait a week or two, then all of the sudden it will power up again, but only once.

It's a pain in the ukw.

I just finished replacing all 25 or so of the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board of an LTV 2701 AStar TV. When I got done, the tv came back to life and WORKS GREAT. Every last electrolytic was either leaking onto the board or puffed up or both. The main problem is that Astar designed the case so that no air can circulate over the board and the capacitors bake after a couple of years. If you don't do somethig to let the air circulate, you will be replacing them again in 2 more years. The board is pretty sturdy however and its fairly easy to replace them all with some copper desoldering braid and a 125 watt soldering gun. Just be sure to keep the polarities right on the electrolytics and make sure that they are the 105C variety. Good luck and remember to add some fans and cut some extra holes in the cage.

Evidently, ASTAR lost a $100,000,000 patent infingement suit with Philips and all their assets were seized. Hence, parts for ASTAR products are no longer available. Read about all the gory details here in post 14.

Okay, you guy taking an big chance by replace all the components? and works? great but,
how about replace all the components and still not showing any pictures on the screen? than you will do more damage of your other board like the main board IC will be burm, panel board and the audio board also damage. This is not a good ID to do it yourself if you don't know what you are doing.
I have worked in the Astar company before as an an Electronics Technician. So I know more about all the model of Astar TV than any one else. Any question call 323-767-6030.
