Question about MSI P6N SLI PLATINUM Motherboard

MSI P6N Platinum not booting up

Okay, so I ordered an MSI P6N SLI Platinum motherboard through TigerDirect, installed it with an Intel Core2Duo 3.00GHz 1333MHz FSB processor, and a GeForce 9500 graphics card. It failed.

At first I assumed somehow it was the processor. So I replaced that. It failed again.

Then I replaced the board with ANOTHER MSI P6N Platinum board. Continues to fail.

I have a 600 Watt power supply. I assume that's enough to power what I'm using.. But the keyboard lights up briefly at startup, then becomes inactive. All the lights on the board are functional, the fans whir to life and it sounds like the hard drive is working... But I don't get a display or even a boot-up sound. I tried using the debugging tool.. If I look REALLY close at the tool, the 4 green lights are on, but extremely dim. So that doesn't help me at all...

Any ideas?? I'm desperate here. I've spent a nice chunk of my money on this stuff..

No, I didn't forget that plug unfortunately. I wish it were that simple.

Have you plugged in the additional power supply connectors to this board at JPW1 (under the heatpipes towards the rear connector panel)? If not then you need an 8 pin 12V power supply from your PSU to this connector (This is what powers your CPU). If you don't have an 8 pin connector, you can get away with a standard 4 pin. It will only fit in one way, so you'll know.
It may sound like a daft solution, but you'd be amazed how many people forget to plug this connector in on this and similar boards.

Also check the cpu fan - does it require power on the motherboard somewhere and you might have it not powered via a power plug from the power supply.

Bios don't boot on p7n platinum sli

check the voltage on the power connector going to the hard disk.
it should have 12volts in red and black wire and 5volts on the yellow and black wire.

the main problem the optical and hard disks can't be recognized is the low voltage supply the drives gets.

No video & keyboard wont light up. MSI p6n sli platnium

It sounds to me like you are right with the motherboard being bad, however, before you try that, try re-seating the memory. Also, try just putting 1 memory stick in. If you do both of those and still nothing, then I would definitely look into getting a new motherboard because that probably is your problem.
