Portable DVD systems are UNIVERSAL devices that work on almost any video/sound device. The problem is the CONTENT on the DVD disc requires a reader to open up the program/data. In this case your Computer or device you are using to play back the content on the disc needs Adobe player or some Player program to operate.
Install the dvd driver into your computer. You can also try using RadarSync to update the decoder. I think it went outdated that's why it's not working properly. Updating it would fix the issue.
Try to download VLC-mediaplayer from:Videolan.org and try with this program. and/or: i allways use Mediaplayer Classic http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/ this works really well for me and plays ALL Media. also download and install FFDSHOW: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ffdshow.htm (this is the codec for media files)
are you trying to open dvd files? if yes
try other known good dvd if it opens. if not try cleaning you dvd drive with a cleaner.
are you trying to open dvd movies?
if yes, have you tried playing dvd in your laptop before in case you haven't tried it yet you need a dvd player program try downloading cyberlink powerdvd.
if you have tried it before but not its not working now.
check what are the programs that you have installed lately
maybe it has a conflict with the dvd player software that you are using
try opening the program manually in start menu
manually open the dvd movie.
The decoding program was apparently lost during the restore. Follow the link bellow, it will take you to the decoding software download at IBM's support site. This should correct your problem, if not let me know.
REstart the system and reinstall the DVD Player program that let the DVD Play.
maybe the DVD disc is required some codecs to play. try another player such as VLC player, or install the DVD player provided in your laptop DVD Rom. You can search and Download VLC player for free just search in google.
