Check your ISO setting. Try "auto ISO".

Tip

Get more out of S4000

ISO
Set ISO Setting to FIXED RANGE and set the range to 80-400. The camera produces noise at HIGH ISO setting.
NIGHT SHOTS
Get a small Tripod and you can take wonderful night time shots of city-scapes. Use a tripod and set the camera White Balance to Incandes. Make sure the FLASH is Off Set the Exposure Comp. to -2. Set the self timer and then frame and press the shutter and back away. Some exposures can be 1 second long so a tripod is not optional. Small plastic Joby ones work. If you are holding the camera during the shot it will move with you. A self timer is used to take the photo after you are not touching it.

When you use the flash set the White Balance to Flash (Unless you are outside on a sunny day. then use daylight)

I do NOT recommend using Auto Flash. Set the flash to OFF or turn it to SINGLE BOLT for fill.

When you want to photograph people outside in the sun set the White Balance to Daylight. On sunny days use the Fill Flash (Single Bolt) to fill faces better. Yes good photographers use flash in the direct sun. When cloudy are in shade turn flash off. If the subject has a bright background get close to them and have the flash on.

This camera makes red eye. In most cases when you are taking a photo of people in low light, when the flash supplies most of the light, you will get horrible red eye. You have to edit these later to remove the red eye.

Green tint on flash photographs

without color correction software on your pc, you may get green tint from the flouresent flash, or use a "filter" over your lens.More expensive digital cams correct for this, back in the 35mm days, I had color correction filters I interchanged during shooting under other than daylight conditions,i.e., incadescent; flourescent;ect.

Day time photos are white and other photos are not natural, either reddish or yellowish.

Please readjust the ISO.
In order to find a pattern please experiment: For example: Try Different SCN (If you're experiencing this problem with your night pictures try and use SCN night, the logo shows a moon and a star, with or without Flash.

I take out door photos during day time,Iam getting white screen.

First make sure the mode selector dial is set to the red camera without an M next to it (ie you're in Auto mode and NOT in manual mode). If so...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2009/05/simple-fix-for-stuck-shutter.html

Now the A410 is not capable of taking 15 second exposures as recommended for the fix. Instead try setting the camera to manual mode, turn off the flash, got to a darkened room, and take a picture. Open the battery door while the red and yellow light are flashing. If after many tries this does not work, then consider trying Fix #5a on the site. But do so with the camera turned off and the lens retracted to lessen the chance of damaging the lens mechanism.

Daytime photos are very white and has horizontal lines.

Hi!

If ever you haven't tried resetting the camera, please try it first. It's possible that you or somebody using the camera may have set something on the camera's setting to have this result ( this is based on my own experience :D ).

Anyway, here's how you reset your camera:

a913d74.jpg
This will basically set the camera to default settings. If there is no hardware problem with the camera, this will correct the problem. However, if the problem persist after the reset , you may want to bring the camera in a service center for repair.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!

If the pink & white pics are a small percentage of your photos you should probably just live with it. I have 6 cameras in operation for 2 yrs & they have about 10% like this. Great pics otherwise. Probably caused by the angle of the sun or reflection of the flash off a nearby object.
