No Spark - Cub Cadet model 71 with a Kohler 8hp

I have a cub cadet model 71 with a Kohler 8hp with no spark. So far I have replaced the spark plug, spark plug wire, coil, condenser and key switch. The points are about one year old and I cleaned them lightly with sand paper and then a business card. I replace the black wire between the key switch and the positive terminal on the coil. Help! What should I check/try next?

I will do that. It's a bit of work to take the engine out and apart to get to it. One question: I don't see reference to the magneto in the wiring diagram: http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=cub_c...
May be a dumb question but how is the magneto related to providing spark on the Kohler K181 engine?

I think the ignition is magneto powered. I looked at the Kohler K181 engine diagram under: http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=cub_c...
and it lists the magneto under the flywheel as Stator Assembly. This is a 1967 Cub Cadet tractor that was running before I took it apart and repainted/restored it. It now looks great but does not start. I have checked every wire connection several times to ensure I have a good connection. I ended up replacing several parts "guessing" at the problem and it's starting to get expensive. I'm restoring more parts then I expected! It does not have modern safety switches and it is pretty simple...I just can't figure out why I don't have any spark.

I'm not familiar with your specific motor, but if the ignition is battery powered.check 'saftey'switches that ground the ignition when gaurds are removed, clutch is not depressed, etc.

I need to know the location of the spark plug on my Cub Cadet GT 2550. I need to replace it.

They are on each cylinder head. There is a wire from the coil to each spark plug. Remove the wire and you'll see the spark plug

Have a Cub Cadet Lt 1050 when you start it, continues to turn over and not start.

Check your oil. Most cub cadets use a kohler engine which will allow gasoline to drain into the crankcase and fill it with gas. The fuel must be shut off on kohlers which can cause unwanted flooding due to a stuck float. You may be surprised when you open the oil check and find gasoline coming out. If not, lightly sand the magneto and the flywheel to make sure you have a spark. If you do have a spark, it is most likely a gasoline issue caused by the flow being stuck in the bowl of the carburetor, causing a Kohler not to start

I start mowing then a few minutes it will stop mowing. cub cadet zero turn tractor 1050 model 17af9bkbp010

I don't know if the Cadet is powered by a Kohler engine or Yamaha.
You may have a bad spark plug, plugged filter or bad gas.

22hp cub cadet cannot get started. severe backfire out exhaust when attempting to start. Ran fine when last yoused about two month ago ?

Hello. Thanks for using fixya. First thing i would do is make sure it has gas in the fuel tank. If that's ok. I would replace the spark plugs next. Could be that they are fouled out causing the no start problem.
