Question about Kenmore 22422 Top Load Washer
It will spin without a load but will not with a load. I moved the washer and noticed carmel colored oil on the floor. what could my problem be?
I believe you have a bad motor. I have seen this in the past. The motor gets weak and the windings break down under a load.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.
First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.
First,I'd check the motor coupler that transmits power between the motor andtransmission. If the coupler is bad, (the prongs are broken) it mightbe able to transmit enough power for agitating but slips when thrwasher goes into spin mode.
Following are descriptions of how to remove the cabinet and get to the coupler.
If you pull the transmission you should be able to see if it is leaking.
Seethe following Whirlpool parts breakdown for top load, direct drivecommercial washers (consumer models are basically the same.)
I'd look at the gearcase cover seal for a possible leaking problem.
