Question about Ruud UBHC Air Conditioner

1 Answer

My Rudd Achiever 10 ran on air setting flawlessly this summer. Now that I am using heat, I have a problem. I get heat into the house; however, the outside unit keeps shutting down after a few minutes of service and I keep having to walk outside to the unit to press the reset button. Can I troublehoot and fix this on my own?

The reset button usually is related to refrigerant pressures, and should be checked by an epa certified technician.

I have a rudd UHLA-3617JA high achiever air handeler, works fine except the electric heater will not come fan starts normally, is this a fuse/breaker or failed electric element problem, how can i tell

It is either the element, sequencer (or contactor/relay), or power to the switching element. 5KW Elements normally Ohm out @ around 10 Ohms when they are good. Everything you need to check requires a multimeter.

I have a Rudd Achiever 14 and I want to know if

Take the front panel off the air handler and look for a heat element. You should notice controls and relays with larger wiring to it. It may not have any heat but you can add it.

Rudd achiever 10 a/c will not kick on and some line is frozen in the unit.

The line will have to be thawed out with hair or air dryer. This may have frozen other components as well including a/c compressor relay or capacitor giving power to a/c compressor or motor unit

Rudd achiever serie. where do the 24 volt wires go to on the air handler.

The two wires from condensing unit go yellow or y from Tstat and theother wire goes brown if it is a Rudd or Rheem. Red from Air HAndler goes to Tstat R Green to Tstat G white to w. If it is digital tstat brown goes to C.

Replace Rudd Achiever 10 ???

if the fan motor outside let go it could overheat the compressor which he should have known before he replaced the motor. also there is no way of knowing if there is enough freon in the system if the compressor does not start, your best bet is to get another repairman as a second opinion

Rudd Achiever A/C float switch is clogged.

If the pump was bad the switch is supposed to shut down the ac so the water damage won't occur. You most likely have a bad drain.
