No set # under feature 985

When I use Feature 985 to find the set # there is nothing there. How do I find the set #?

To find the set nuber of the set go to the set and hit feature * 0 button idetification then push the intercom button this with id the set

When using feature 985 to reset a mail box but there are no soft keys under the display what do I press for yes?


That feature code is documented as
Feature 985 Norstar Voice Mail Directory Number which should give you the number, not reset anything. You can hang up (RLS) then dial it.
Initializing a mailbox (if that's what you're trying to do) is F981, option 8 (admin).

We need help with our Nortel system (T7316E). We don't know the admin password. We have tried Feature 985 and then it says to hit "9" but we can't do that as the display shows VM:363 and we can only hit...


feature 985 shows you your vm extension #.
feature 983 then try 1029999 (if password was changed to 9999 or something else)
or maybe feature 983 then 738662 'ok' then 266344 'ok'. depending on the norstar system you have.
these are some codes to enter the vm management. What are you trying to do, reset a vm password or other system programming?

Press Feature 985 - press 9 even when not listed in options. At the password prompt enter 73738767793 and answer the reset password prompt with yes. This will reset the password to default.

the administrative features are accessed through feature 983 with a default login of 1020000 (if your using 3 digit intercom numbers).

Mbox Locked - Feature 981


Feature 985 is used for resetting the administrator password.To reset a subscriber mailbox press feature 983, enter in log (default 1020000), on the 3 soft keys bolow the the screen press mbox,chng, enter extension number of the locked mailbox, press reset at the reset password prompt.press rls key

Unanswered calls will not go to voicemail


Ok, do you know how to get into system programming?

If you do:
-> first dial FEATURE 985 this will give you the DN(Extn) for the voicemail
-> get into programming
-> TERMINALS&SETS enter and put in the extn that is giving you issues
-> then under CAPABILITIES look for FWD NO ANSWER and put in the DN of the voicemail you saw with the Feature 985
-> hit next for the number of rings you want it to ring before going to voicemail
-> hit next and you can now RLS to back out of programming.

Voila, that set will now goto voicemail.

I am locked out of my mailbox


Here are a couple things to check...

Press Feature * 0 and then press you intercom button - This will identify the extension # of the phone you are using/ This will also identify any button on the phone

assumming your extension is 3 digits;
enter Feature 983 and at the log prompt enter 1020000 then press ok. This is 102 for the mb and 0000 for the password. If you get successfully logged in you can choose mbox then change and then enter your mb # . The first thing you will see is PASSWORD with RESET under password. Press the softkey under reset to rest the password to 0000. Now try to log back into your mb using 0000 as the password.

If you can't get into the admin mb with 1020000 then do this to reset the password for the admin mb..

Norstar: Inactive Feature (981)


This generally happens from one of two things. Your voice mail system is connected to your phone system through a station port. If it loses connection it will not communicate with the phone system. Loose wire or connection can cause this. or it has just crashed and will need repair or replacement.

First thing you want to do is unplug the unit wait 15 minutes and plug it back in. wait 10 minutes Try feature 981 from a set that has voicemail. if nothing. hit feature 985 from a m7310 set or a m7324 set not a m7208. If it comes back with inactive fearture now your connection between the units is bad or the unit itself is bad. If it comes back with the voicemail intercom # and you cant get into any mailboxes it has lost all programming.Try this first.
