My ipod touch shows up as a camera and ive tried site user ekse's solution but whn i go to upload driver i cant find any thing other than my ipod as a camera

ok you can try this method : 1. First off you need to have iTunes installed and the ipod touch plugged in and recognized as 'something' e.g. digital camera (it shouldn't really matter what it's recognized as, but it needs to be found by windows).
2. Search for usbaapl in the C:\WINDOWS system folder: o open windows explorer (e.g. Right-click Start and then click 'explore') o right-click the WINDOWS folder and select 'Search'). o type in usbaapl and hit Search - try to ignore the dog! You should find the driver info in a sub folder of C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE e.g. C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B Remember that location (either leave the search box open or copy the folder name into note pad - you'll need it later) If you don't find usbaapl.sys, usbaapl.inf etc. then your drivers have not been installed with the iTunes install and you'll have to reinstall iTunes.

3. Locate the ipod-camera device: o Open the device manager, e.g. using Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager o Look for a device called 'ipod' - if your ipod shows up as 'digital camera' it will be under something like 'imaging devices'.
4. Update the driver: o Right click the 'ipod-camera' in device manager and click on 'Update Driver' - the Hardware Update Wizard will open. o Check the 'Install from a list or specific location' then click 'Next' o Check 'Search for the best driver in these locations'. Un-check 'Search removable media' and check 'Include this location in the search'. In the text box below type (or better copy and paste) the folder containing the ipod driver information found in step 1 (in the example above it was C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B), then click Next. You should now see something like 'Apple ipod device driver' or so. Continue installing that device. Once the driver has been installed the ipod will come to life and iTunes (if you have it open) will show it.

P.S.:if you didn't find the updated drive in STEP1 you can try to find the updated drive file in C:\windows\system32\drivestore\FileRepository\usbappl.inf

Im looking for a Missing sys file on my computer the file pauvcflt.sys is what I need to finish a install update for my usb drivers and I dont know where to look to find it

It is going to be really hard to search for a single, not-so-common system file on the internet. Its probably one tiny file from a heap of a hundred files required for drivers. You haven't given lot of details but as long as drivers are concerned, you can search for them online with the device name etc.

I am having trouble running setup on my desktop

To resolve this problem, replace the missing or corrupted Ntfs.sys file:
  1. Use the Windows XP startup disks or the Windows XP CD to restart your computer.
  2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to select the To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R option.
  3. Type the number of the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console, and then press ENTER.
  4. Type the administrator password when you are prompted, and then press ENTER. If no administrator password exists, just press ENTER.
  5. At the command prompt, type the following commands (press ENTER after each command): cd \windows\system32\drivers

ren ntfs.sys ntfs.oldNote This step renames the corrupted Ntfs.sys file to Ntfs.old. If the Ntfs.sys file is not found, the file is missing.
  6. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: copy cd:\i386\ntfs.sys drive:\windows\system32\driversWhere cd is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive that contains the Windows XP CD, and drive is the drive where you installed Windows XP.
  7. Remove the Windows XP CD from your CD-ROM drive, type quit at a command prompt, and then press ENTER to quit the Recovery Console.
  8. Restart the computer.

Missing or corrupted file C:\windows\himem.sys

If you are running Windows 95, Windows 98, type:
copy himem.sys c:\windows <press enter>
If when typing any of the above commands you receive a prompt that the file already exists, ensure to overwrite it.
Reboot the computer; if the issue continues to occur, verify that the config.sys is properly setup. The line himem.sys should read:
DEVICE=C:\Windows\HIMEM.SYS
or
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
Additional information and examples of the config.sys can be found on our autoexec.bat / config.sys page.

ITouch pretending to be a camera question

I hate to even try to explain how I was able to solve this problem because I am such a novice in this area but I was persistent enough to find a solution. After having found it am I sure I will struggle to remember all of the steps but I will at least try hoping to save someone the 3 hours I spent attempting to figure this out myself.

Step 1 -
I followed the advice from another thread on another website that said I should go to Start menu, click the "Run" icon and type in "devmgmt.msc". That brought up the "Device Manager". The other website suggested that I would find "Apple iPod" under one of the "USB icons" and by clicking on the "+" next to the icon I could locate it. However, when your iTouch is being recognized as a camera it does not appear under the USB icons. It appears under the "Imaging Devices" icon.

Step 2 -
Click on the "+" next to the "Imaging Devices" and "Apple iPod" should appear (if it doesn't, I apologize because I cannot explain to you from here where to go. If it does, go to Step 3.)

Step 3 -
Right click on "Apple iPod" and then click on the "Driver" tab, middle of the 3 tabs at the top.

Step 4 -
Click on "Driver Details" - the driver file name should end with "usbaapl.sys". If it does not, you do not have the correct driver installed to sync your iTouch. So you need to go to Step 5. If it does, again I apologize but my expertise has been exceeded and this solution is likely not for you.

Step 5 -
Close the "Driver Details" window and click on "Update Driver" - This will open the "Hardware Update Wizard" (if you are using Windows XP). In this window, click on "Install from specific location" button and click "Next"

Step 6 -
Click "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install." and click "Next"

Step 7 -
Click "Have Disk" (even if you don't have a disk, I didn't and it worked anyway, because you will tell the computer where to find the "usbappl.sys" file eventually anyway.

Step 8 -
Choose "Browse" in the next window

Step 9 -
Go to your "Program Files" folder on your main drive (C: for me)
Click "Common Files"
Click "Apple"
Click "Mobile Device Support"
Click "Drivers"

Step 10 -
The file that appears in this folder is actually called - "usbappl.inf"
Select it and click "OK".

This made the final connection for me (somehow leading the computer to the "usbappl.sys" file which also is in this folder but does not appear as an option in the final step) and my iTouch began to sync within 5 seconds. Wow. What a relief. I hope this is clear and I hope this works for you. Sorry it is so long, but if it can save anyone a ton of time and frustration I will feel my time was well spent.
