Start from cable plug fuse back ward to the machine power. Supply.

Re: Power failure

The 24v power connection cord in the electronic card cage may be loose. If it's not that then your power supply assembly may be shot.

Plug it in!
flip the power switch UP in back of machine,

NSX-WKT1O. Why doesn't it turn on?

Could be an open internal fuse or power supply failure.

My TEAC CD-W8 whoofer will not light up and get power

If it will "not light up" (power indicator off), there may be a blown fuse internally or there could be a power supply failure

How do i get my speaker to stop making loud sounds

Reduce the volume for sure, but if what you meant is some crackling noise then the power amplifier must be checked for malfunction. The failure can be a series of failures on the power amplifier , disconnect the input and confirm that it is an internal noise and not from any source.

My gpx karoke machine will not play at all power is on, shows cd number but no sound at all

Here are some things to try:
  1. Take the cd out, turn off the power, unplug the machine, plug it back in, turn on the power, put cd back in and try again.
  2. Check whether other cds play in it or if is it just this disc. Perhaps the disc is not compatible with the player. Might wanna check on that.
  3. Is the volume knob turned up?
  4. Does the mic work or is it just the cd? This will tell you if it is the disc or the machine that is not functioning properly.
  5. If no compatible disc works and the mic doesn't work and the volume is turned up, it "sounds" like the machine is defective.
Hope this helps. I'm a singer, so I wanna get you singing! Good luck.

Machine 'protect' msg

his appears to be a very common problem here on the board. It means the unit has shut off the outputs because of either a bad speaker or shorted wire, or some failed part in the amplifier. If the trouble continues after you disconnect the speakers, the unit will require service to diagnose and replace the failed part(s).

I've never worked on this model, but in many brands the amplifier integrated circuit is a common failure. They are often not properly mounted for efficient cooling and burn themselves out. Another typical failure is some power supply part that is under-rated and just goes bad, and this is showing up as the protect failure.

Without a diagram and no direct experience, I can't suggest any specific action you could take, other than checking with a local shop for a repair estimate. (You might try contacting JVC on their website or by phone to see if they have any service bulletins. If something becomes a chronic issue, the manufacturer sometimes extends warranty service to cover the repair. Never hurts to ask!)

Can not turn power on

You didn't mention why it was disconnected and this may have only showed a failure that was going to happen anyway. There may be an internal fuse that was just tired but it will require some disassembly if there is no back-panel fuse holder evident.
Most all consumer electronics use a more efficient type of power supply called 'switched mode' (SMPS) and they are fussy by nature. In your case, the supply was probably close to failure and it was only working because it was plugged into AC but now unable to restart.
You might be able to jog it into working again by repeatedly plugging and unplugging the AC and watching for any signs of life. If an LED somewhere on the front panel turns on, leave it plugged in then. This may not work but won't hurt anything either.

Power problems

The set is detecting a problem internally and shutting down to prevent further damage. This is often call protection mode. I would guess that there is either a bad connection somewhere or a part starting to fail. If there is a pattern to the failures, a quick trip to the repair shop is in order armed with that info. Rough guess would be abaout $30 in parts plus the local labor rate. This is based upon my own repair experience with these systems.

Stuck minidisc

Turn the power off and back on at the mains. With the machine now in standby, press and hold the "Play Mode" and "Minidisc Play/Pause" buttons together. The machine will enter test mode and the disc should eject. Switch the power on and off again at the mains and the machine should be back to normal.
