If its a diode or capacitor in the h.v. circuit repair it, if its the mag tube or h.v. transformer these 2 parts are cost prohibitive being anywhere from $75-$200 each depending the unit, the other 2 parts might be $10-$50 each

While our microwave is running, there is popping sounds and the panel on the side is sparking

take out the tray and the carousel and put something in the microwave and try to heat it,no zapping means faulty carousel or tray,if you used the microwave with nothing in it,then the microwave WILL do that{zap},do not use your microwave without anything in it,if this still happens, replace the microwave,or you have metal in the dishes you are using.stop using the dishes, get microwave safe dishes.

No power went black, no panel ligts

You will have to remove the cover from the unit - It may have security screws that are a special kind and require a special tip - If you can get the cover off, with the unit unplugged, check the most likely ABC20 fuse on the small circuit board where the 110VSC power cord comes into the back of the unit - not sure why they don't leave that in a fuse holder on the back but when this goes - your unit seems dead - if you can check it on a meter you will likely find it is open circuit - replace it. Then plug in the oven before you put the cover back on - put in a half cup of water in a microwaveable mug and zap it for 30 secs - if the fuse holds and the water is hot, unplug and put the cover back on - Job well done - if the fuse pops again almost immediately then you have some other parts in that unit that are shorted and it may not be worth fixing further - they have become one of our 'throw-away' appliances

My emerson microwave #mw8999rd shoots out fire from a silver piece of cardboard thats on the righthand inside of my microwave oven. whats with that?

There is electrical problem in your microwave heating circuit. This is a fire hazard and you should stop using this microwave and unplug from the outlet. This is not something you can fix and the fuse does not protect your system anymore. The best choice is to purchase a new one and throw this away.

Hamburger in foil wrap put in microwave - shorted unit out

Hi- The first thing here is safety. If the power supply is good- 120v at outlet- then address the fuse in the cabinet. Open door, remove screw(s) holding control panel, and tilt out panel. Fuse should be visible. Check for continuity. If bad, replace with 15amp appliance fuse. Plug in and check for operation. If fuse blows again, unplug and start looking at a new microwave. Let me know if this info helps. Have more if needed- Thanks- Ed

Had microwave about 10 months GE wes1450dm1bb went off then came back on after it sit awhile then went out again and never came back on again no lights or power at all please let me know something to do...

Look first at the fuse inside the cabinet - unplug the device first of course. Do not touch the silver can - Lethal.

Check the fuse with a ohm meter of other contunity checker.

It could be the SILVER CAN. In the past, I have had success by simply unplugging the VERY HIGH VOLTAGE (25,000 <> volts) connections and reconnecting them. This silver can potentially has enough power stored it in, even months after being unplugged, to kill. If you dont know how to short it to ground SAFELY, pay someone to repair it.

Find a replacement fuse at the hardware store.

I hope this helps you ... I hope it is the fuse.

GE SpacemakerXL Microwave blowing fuse

If its blowing fuses more than likely there is a short somewhere. Make sure you are putting the required size fuse in. Also never put in a higher than recommended amp fuse you could catch the house on fire.Unhook the fan motor and see if the microwave will run. Anything can be fixed but the cost of doing so may be more trying to fix, but really it could be cheaper to buy a new one instead of trying to fix that one. IMO

Exploded a musical mug in spacemaker xl1800 microwave.

If there's no damage it should be fine.

I would double-check for cracks, especially in the inner door glass and the screen / mesh.

If it looks fine, heat a cup of water in a microwave-safe container for about 2 minutes and see if it cooks without arcing or odd noises and that it boils in about 2 minutes.

As always, never leave a microwave unattended while running.

Frame is sparking and smoking

Re-trade or go buy a new one this unit is not worth repairing. Go buy a new one their cheap nowadays. And for God sakes unplug it, keep fire extinguisher handy and tell the kids not to use it. You could have an electrical short in there.
