Hi,
Have you checked to see if the belt is loose? If it is tight and still routed correctly around the drum, motor and tensioning arm, I would suspect your motor needs replacing.
Hope this helps...

When i turn the dryer on a setting, I get a humming noise and the drum does not turn. (maytag)

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove
the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket
with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt,
this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum
not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum
rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3
in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting
noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots
on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise.
You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

Dryer Does Not Tumble When Pressing Start

Hi,First of all check your door switch, make sure it is operational. If the door switch checks good, the start switch could be faulty, in newer dryers the start switch is built into the timer in older dryers your start switch may be separate, if you have to push on the timer dial to start the dryer, its built into the timer.

Check any other safety's that may be stuck open.Double check anyway. If it wont do anything, I would say its the door switch or the start switch.
Thank you

Dryer won't turn on - interior light on

It sounds like you have either a broken drum belt or a door switch that isn't working. If the dryer belt breaks, the drum will not turn, but you will probably still hear the motor running. I don't think your model has a broken belt switch that disables the motor (at least I couldn't find one). You didn't mention anything about hearing a motor running, either. The likely cause, then. would be a door switch. If the switch was not making contact when the door was closed, it would give the very same symptoms you described. Have you tried pushing on the switch with the door open to see if the drum light goes out? If the light DOES go out, we probably have a primary power problem to the drive motor. If the light DOES NOT go out, replace the door switch. You can find the part at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and you can locate the switch under the "Cabinet Parts" heading as item number 10 (part #3406107). Let me know how you diagnose this and get back to me. If it is the switch, I can give you steps on how to replace it. If its not, then we'll have to troubleshoot a little further. I'm trying the simple approach first before attempting to disassemble the dryer. I hope this helps you.

Dryer isn't turning

This could be one or two things, it could be the safety switch located in door that activates the turning of the dryer. Or it could be a belt that turns the drum the motor could be turning inside and belt is broken.
