Fasten the ground to one of the metal screws that hold the metal(?) cover on.You want to connect it to the metal frame of Onkyo.

First of all, the DVD input won't work unlessyou insert a phono preamp into the mix. The preamp will bring the phono level signal up to the line level needed for the DVD input. The turntable can be grounded to the chassis of the receiver using any of the cabinet screws. The ground is necessary due to the extremely low signal levels produced by the turntable. Some of the pre-amps provide the grounding necessary at the pre-amp input as well.

Most modern hifi and video based systems use the double insulated principle these days with no ground wire used. Ground wire based systems need to have all the ground wires connected to 1 single point to avoid what is known as earthing loops that can lead to serious humming problems especially in hifi systems. If no other components in your system use any earthing then you can connect the earthing on the t/t directly to your mains earthing via the mains plug that supplies the turntable. If the Onkyo is grounded via the mains then connect a piece of extension wire from the t/t and connect it to the earthing point on the rear of the Onkyo receiver.

I have an old Denon stereo receiver DRA - 565 RD. Do you know how I can connect my iPhone to the receiver to play music from my iPhone?

You need a 3,5mm male stereo connector to RCA male jacks (see attached image). Plug the 3.5mm jack to your iPhone and the RCA jacks (red & white or red & black) to your Denon Receiver's CD in or Tape 1 or 2 PB (at the rear of the unit). Then select the input where you plugged the RCA to (front of receiver: CD / Tape-2 / Tape-1). Hope this will help. 25303676-z0ul41frrnrex4ege2epffps-1-0.jpg

I have an Onkyo TX-8522 stereo system. I am trying to connect my iphone to it so that i can play music there (both from Pandora and from my own music from itunes). I was wondering if this was actually...

Yes it is possible. Any audio device with an earphone out jack can be connected to a receiver by using the CD input or the AUX input jacks (white and red) on the receiver. All you need is an adapter cable with the stereo 3.5mm plug on the iPhone side and the 2 RCA connectors on the receiver side. You can get these for $2 or so at Amazon.com or at Radio Shack. Adjust the volume and select on the receiver, the input you used to connect and enjoy.

See above link for one example of the cable.

Echo when connecting Samsung Plasma to Onkyo TX-SR602

Make sure you have the tv volume turned right down as this will cause an echo, also set amp to prologic 2, and set up xover to suit your speakers or go for the THX standard of 80 hrtz and as a rule of thumb set front L,C,R speakers to zero rears to about +4or5 and your sub to -5[ dont know which speakers you have but try setting the subs on board volume to the 10,o,cloak position],also make sure the speakers -,+ are wired the same at the amp and speakers.

Hope this helps.

No audio thru receiver with xbox360

Get some audio cables from radio shack or gamestop and use the regular audio jacks on the xbox to connect to your receiver.  Your video will be HD, but your audio won't.

Platter turns slow

This turntable design has a direct drive system instead of belt drive (two types). If this unit has been in storage for some time, it has most likely been at hot or cold tempuratures - not good for any electronic/mechanical system.
My guess is that the direct drive motor needs to be rebuilt - internal friction is probably keeping it from operating at proper speed. Best to consult with a repair shop that can handle direct drive turntables - several on the internet, if you cannot find one locally.

BTW: You can find a manual for this at : http://www.vinylengine.com/library/denon/dp-45f.shtml

Andre

Denon AVR587 Setup

red/white/yellow = composite
red/green/blue= component video cables + audio cables needed

the red/white= stereo audio

the denon 587 has 2 optical (toslink) inputs and 2 digital coax. These are surround sound cables basically, it's the only way to get true 5.1 dolby or dts.

connect cable box, and the samsung to the sony using hdmi. then connect the cable box and the samsung to the denon receiver with optical cable. And that's it.

How to connect using a LCD monitor, cable box, DVD player

You won't need the VCR, that's only used for a cable box, and since you have one now there is no need. You'll want to connect everything with the better video plugin possible. Composite (red, white, yellow) is the worst, then s-video, then component (red, blue, green), then DVI, then HDMI. That will square your video. Then send all audio signals to the Denon. These cables are usually the red and white cables. OR Plug everything into the Denon to the appropriate input. Then connect the monitor to the video out of the Denon.
