Question about Akai PT5598HD 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
Hi sreekidu, 1st of all thks so much 4 helping out all of us who cant afford the in person repairman. I have an akai 5598hdi. like to many other buyers, I have a contengency prob also. I bought 2 amps and replaced the old one refer:( cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html ) after the replacement/heat sink, i turned on the tv w/no results.. I was unable to do manual adjustment what so ever. I then called samsung and asked for the replacement board..they said they discontinued that board for the akai.I then asked that if so many people are having the same prob after 3-4 yrs, why would you discontinue the board? well after a bit they set me up w/J&J Inernational,Inc they had a replacement board BP95-00142E w/2 ic's stk for $96.00. Well i greatly thanked them and ordered the part..I get the board and replace the old one and still I'm unable to adjust the convergence manualy or auto... the tv remains the same as before. Am i forgetting something or is there a process? I have no svc manual and figure I've spent enough on the tv.. Pls help if u can... Happy Holidays.. email if needed:email@example.com...many thks bandit
The B+ voltages to run the convergence originate on the main PC board, power supply area...there are soldered in fuses to be
checked with an ohmmeter.....another related procedure is to
measure voltages with a meter, but that is normally done by
a qualified tech with service manual in hand..............T.

When amps go bad most of the time they cause fuses to open in that area. They also will need return resistors replaced. Unless you have done all of this then, you should not replace with new ones, it will only damage them also. You may need schematic to find the fuses and resistors.

Hello, I would take it to a TV repair place, they will charge around $50 and let you know what the problem is with it. this is your cheapest way out, it you want to keep it. If you chose to take it please give me a fixya rateing. Thanks, Farren
