Check all connections. Check plug and power. After that, it may be dead.

sorry to hear about your misfortune but unless you are willing to take the drill totally apart and clean the inside and reset the tracking and bushings it would probably be cheaper and easier just to purchase another one now that Christmas has come and gone you can get one at a pretty good price

Drill stopped during a day of usage. Motor was getting hot and just started to smoke. I stopped using the drill so it could cool. Two hours later, it makes a buzzing noise, but the drill will not spin. ...

the heat has seized the motor or plastic gears im leaning more towards the motor
disassemble the drill and take a look all the parts pretty much stay in place see if
you can turn the motor by hand if it wont turn use some 3n1 oil on each end of the
motor that shooed do the trick

hope this helps you
good luck

The motor is smelling hot and I see sparks when I release the trigger. Any maintenance needed?

It gets hot because this is very hard work for a 14.4 volt drill. For that matter, it is hard work for any portable or small electric drill. The sparks you see during the stop procedure are likely an electric brake. If yours doesn't have a electric brake - it may be too late for maintenance :-(

Your drill would appreciate it if you would give it a rest when it gets hot ... this is not good for your drill.

I am sure others will have more to say about this, here is my 2 cents worth.

Drill stopped work ing when hot. One drill we bought stopped after 10 6mm holes. The others work when you pull the trigger and then sometime they don't.

Sounds like a burned out motor.

Sometimes you can replace the brushes and make them work again.

When operating that drill, make sure that you are not overheating the motor.

Depending on the material that you are drilling, you may need to use the drill on a slower speed in order to not overheat the motor.

Another way is to have more than one drill, and switch to a cool one as soon as you notice heat on the in-use drill.

If your drill is battery powered, stop using the drill and change the battery as soon as the battery dies enough to slow the speed of the drill.

Operating the drill under reduced power is very hard on the motor for several reasons.

CD won't spin

Im afraid the laser is worn out, or there is a power supply problem, or the spindle motoer servo curcuit is defective. If you know how to service solid state curcuits, maybe it will be worth fixing. Im sorry to say, if you do not, then most likly the repair will exceed the cost of a new unit or come close to it. Good Luck PS please do not forget to rate this thread.
