Question about Onkyo DX-C390 6-Disc CD Changer

1 Answer

Won't work It turns on and displays "Mech error" on front. The disc table will not come out . It will not play. It will not move from disc to disc. I've unplugged it , but cannot get it to budge. Please help. It is only one yr old. Jeff Peters

Have same problem. Are there instructions for taking the cover off?

Fixed it fine. Just took the top metal cover off of the unit and fixed the disc that was out of its tray. Really easy and no electronic experience required.

yes, many thanks for this advice. Opened it up, even let my 4-year-old help and found too many CDs all messed up inside. this post saved my chucking or paying $75 to get it "fixed." Now if I can just get the kids to stop jumping around the player to stop the discs form skipping!

Guys, I have the same problem. "Mech Error" and it too is most likely a jammed disc. My question is....did you take off the front face cover? It has 4 screws on the bottom, I took them out but the front cover is hard to get off and I don't want to break it. The unit is hard to get at for me to see (professional RI install etc.) so, I don't want to try to pull it out until I hear from someone. If it is the main encasement you are talking about. Would you be so kind as to detail the process? Many thanks...HMan

Sounds like there might be a disc jammed in the disc tray.

Table Error

After replacing belts, turntable moves to position disc 1 in front of loader then swings back and forth 10 times and posts "TABLE ERROR" again. If I apply slight clockwise pressure to table, then disc loads OK. On unload, table rotates to position disc 1 in front, door opens, then table oscillates another 10 times and posts "TABLE ERROR" again. Any hints?

"CDC MECH ERROR" on 2009 Honda CR-V EX-L with Nav

Either the unit's motor is bad or the mechanical parts are dirty not allowing the unit to change CD's or load them.

I insert a disc. It loads, then either 1 or 2 shows in the display, but nothing functions and the disc will not play. It is a region 2 disc I tried

\usually when a disc won`t play ,it just displays "No Disc".

Is the disc matching the dvd code?
Is the region code correct?
Have you checked what discs the dvd will play, in front of manual.

If those are ok the dvd must have condensation in it.
Place in a warm room, turn on and leave for 2-3 hrs
Then try again fingers crossed for you.

Won't stay closed

even if the laser lense cant process the data being read it should not eject and just display disc error or no disc. That's how it normally does. anyway if is is different from yours, try cleaning the laser lense with cotton bud, dampen a bit with rubbing alcohol, then the other end to dry it. rub it in circular motion please and not too hard or excesiove force on it.

lubricate the spindle motor shaft if you can reach, not too much oil, the very thin type household use only. likewise the traverse mech. the mech is not the source of your problem but since you are lubricating the spindle motor then you might as well lubricate the rest of moving parts. try not to put oil in you platine table and other rotating parts like the rubber belts or you'll find another problem later.
