I am receiving the same problem with my neptune washer and the repair man said it is more than likely the control board when I spoke to him over the phone.  From what I have seen online this is a major problem with these machines.  Repair man also stated that it would cost around $450 to $500 to repair the machine with parts and labor.  I think it will be replaced and not fixed!

Yes, The motor and motor control board are not talking to each other. The motor has a built-in tach that signals the board as to its' position and speed. One of the two is faulty. This is an expensive repair. Parts will cost between $225 and 325 depending on where you are. Make sure the repair tech has a good reputation before proceding or do it yourself.

Speed sensor L5

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
SAFETY SHUTDOWN Loss of Speed Signal" or "L5" WITH belt movement
This is usually an indication of a speed control malfunction. The upper board is not recognizing a signal pickup from the speed sensor. This could be due to the speed sensor being misaligned, improper connection, or bad speed sensor. Refer to the flowchart on page
"SAFETY SHUTDOWN Loss of Speed Signal" or "L5" WITH NO belt movement
The speed sensor is not recognizing any motor movement. This displays the error message to the upper board.
NOTE: USE THIS FOR DIAGNOSING THE PWM/RELAY COMBO BOARD

Error 99 message keeps popping up

Hi

I just read that the error 99 problem is a shutter failure and the shutter will have to be fixed. The cost is about $180.

see http://www.mcvr.com/canon_digital_rebel.htm?gclid=CJqG4cvc05oCFRMhnAodCHUA3Q#shutter

ERR99 (error 99) is an indication that there is a communication problem in the camera. It is most often an indication that the shutter needs to be replaced, but it can be the result of other problems. All digital cameras occasionally need to have the shutters replaced. In the days of film cameras, it was rare to wear out a shutter because the cost of film and developing limited the number of times the shutter was cycled. With all those ones and zeros being considered "free" in digital cameras, it is not uncommon to take several hundred or more photos in a day. Even with a live-expectancy of 50.000 to 100,000 cycles, the shutters in digital cameras do reach the end of their life and need to be replaced.

Shutter replacement (usually associated with error code "99"):
  • Replacing the shutter on the Digital Rebel series requires more disassembly than most other repairs.
  • The estimate for shutter replacement is $180 on all EOS Digital Rebel models (depending upon the overall condition of the camera).
  • ERR99 error codes are related to shutter or mirror operation and are usually associated with a defective shutter. Cameras that have had heavy use may have shutters that have reached life expectancy and need to be replaced.

E04 Error Message

Here's what i found. I was able to clear the message by opening and closing and ejecting the cassette. I also had to play with the battery at the same time. Keeping the cassette door open and then pulling out the battery. After is did this a couple of times i got the message to clear. I too haven't used my camcorder for some time and now that the error message has cleared the camcorder tells me that i need to clean the heads. Hope this helps. Below is the message i found that pointed me toward ejecting the cassette. Good Luck, i'm off to buy a tape head cleaning cassette. An error indication (E03 or E04) appears. - (E03 or E04 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE REMOVE AND REATTACH BATTERY) This massage a malfunction of some kind has occurred. In this case the camcorder's functions become unusable. - Eject the cassette once and re-insert it, then check if the indication clears. When it does, you can resume using the camcorder. If the indication remains, consult your nearest JVC dealer or service center
