Yes, it apears to be a power-up problem.

I did a driver scan on my PC.

The scan says that a driver is not reqired. It said that the unit is plug and play. Could you confirm this for me.

Also, where could I finnd technical data for the unit.

I have 20 years of experience in the elctronics trade and would like to look into the problem.

The unit is 8 years old. Would you consider that it has gone past it's use-by date?

I don't think it is a PC Problem. The PC video card works fine with another monitor.

I am looking forward to a reply with my previous messege

    Many thanks

    Dear ancestor_22

The ADI Microscan model number is LD-522P

There is a barcoded number 9897476157

    and a serial number 1490ACT00105693 C

After the image fades away, the screen is still illuminated. Does this fact help with pin-pionting the inverter?

If I can find an identical monitor, I may try swapping the inverter.

    Thank you for your help

The most likely cause it that you have a defective inverter inside of your monitor. I am unable to find a replacement inverter for your monitor. If you want to try fixing the monitor yourself, please give me the all the numbers on the back of the monitor. I will try finding the replacement inverter. If it is available, it will probably cost around $80. If you are good with electronics, you can try looking inside and see if there is any solder bridge or cold solder on the inverter board. Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions. Good luck.

If the monitor back-lit light is still on, the inverter is good. If the on screen display is also faded when you hit the buttons on the monitor, if would point the problem to the power supply to the LCD panel or the contract control circuit. Either way, it is something you will need to do some component level trouble shooting. This type of skill is a dieing art. It is not quite something an average user can do.

But if the OSD display is not faded when you press the buttons, the analog input buffer in bad. Again, it is not something an average user can do.

Please go ahead and press the buttons on the monitor and see what happens.

Try reinstalling the software, and possibly test the camera using a different USB cable.
If the problem is still there, settings are OK, and the camera picture is fading after few seconds, then the cam has a faulty CCD sensor. Usually this units do not get repaired, but just replaced.

Which is the most appropriate for you? as per the diff models, viz. For the Microscan 5TN LCD use the 5T driver. For the Microscan 5A use the 5AP driver. For the Microscan 3G use the 4G driver. Please visit driverguide.com and become a member(its free). Then search for your models correct driver after selecting your OS. If it is not Vista, then external drivers can be loaded and in case of Vista the webcam should be compatible for use with Vista otherwise it will never function properly. However from your description it seems to have a power-up problem and therefore not related to the driver. You might have to get it replaced since repairing them is not cost effective. Also if its connected to the USB port, try and swap the socket in your Laptop and/or Desktop, I hope this will help.....................................sodeep

After approx 1-2mins the screen fades to black and white streaks and spots

LCD is going bad and eventually it won't show any image. LCD is not able to regulate the voltage going into it so to much is going into the LCD and thats why the spots and streaks are showing up.

Adi microscan monitor 17 green screen

this is a loose cable from the monitor vga. please make sure the cable is secure from THE monitor side

It is a connection somewhere. It can be the cable, monitor, or video card. If you another input on the monitor i.e. DVI try that with a different cable. If there is another output on video card try that. Mix them to test. trial and error.

Odds are there are some smashed pins.

Ps3 plays audio but does not show image on tv

Well you can just use the hdmi cable if you're going both audio and video in to your tv. With your hdmi cable you get the best quality for both.

But in anycase, it seems that your PS3 is set up to output video via HDMI cable. To reset our video output settings, simply power down your PS3 (turned off) and hold down the power button until you hear the second beep. (around 5-10 secs) Power back up and hopefully you'll have video via your av cable. Hope this helps.

ADI A905, No Display, but appears to get signal

I have the same problems as you. I found the only fix is to physically unplug the monitor from the wall outlet, and then it plug back in. Sounds like an internal design flaw.
