How do i disable the touch pad on my Dell Lattitude E5400 laptop? Thanks, Tom 917-733-5968

You can turn off the touch pad through the mouse settings in the Control Panel. I was a little frustrated by this too, but if you go to the Control Panel and click 'Mouse', the first tab of this new window is 'Dell Touchpad'. Simply click anywhere in that window and you'll be able to configure the touch pad settings. One great option for many people is 'Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick when external USB mouse is present' as there is no easy one-button solution to disable it.

My keyboard doesnt work.I have to use an external keyboard.

Have you checked your interner keyboard in BIOS, Try turning on the system and keep tapping F2 , see if u see a diffrent screen then normal. and try playing around with the keys. if it works then it is not a problem with keyboard , but if it is then, you need to purchase a new keyboard.

Note/:- while exiting the F2 screen,.do not save any changes.

What do the top row of buttons on keyboard meanAZ56001 E5400

Hi! you may be talking about the function keys on your keyboard. Each button has its unique functions that may help you while using your computer. kindly check the images on the button, for example if the image on the button looks like a moon it means that button will make your computer go to sleep mode. all you need to do is to press FN+ the button with the moon image and that will do the job. You may also see sun image for backlight adjustment, speaker image for sound settings a square image for an external monitor that can toggle display from 1 monitor to another. Also, pressing F1 button while computer is booting up may take you to BIOS (basic input output screen) . Don't forget to press FN button together with the function buttons.
