Question about GE Profile 26.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Dispenser TFX27PRBWW

Frost buildup inside freezer door at ice dispenser

Six year old GE Profile side-by-side refrigerater. Frost continues to build up inside freezer door at ice dispenser. Warped "flapper door" was replaced a couple of years ago to correct the same situation. Although I can hear that flap close after ice is dispensed, might it still not be sealing? Or is there another likely problem?

You are still not getting a seal on that flap. It sounds as if it may be warped. THe reason the frost and ice is building up is due to the flap not sealing there isn't any other reson for your problem. Good luck on your repairs

Hi yes the flap will cause the frost, you need to replace the solenoid that controls that flap, if this is a side by side, the solenoid is behind the dispenser controls on the freezer door, you take off the control board, and then remove the little mount behind that it has 4 screws and you will see solenoid on right side, it needs to be replaced.

hi ,
your freezer cabinet need to get all out and open the back wall.
  1. you have 2 element that can be check one is the heating element , two is the thermostat.
  2. you need a volt meter to check them.
  3. if the frost is all over the coils then one of the element i told you before, is bad
  4. if the frost is in one area not all over then you got gas leak.
  5. good luck

Frost buildup on area where ice comes out of the ice bin with frost also on the inside of door chute

The flap door where ice is dispensed is warped letting warm air into the freezer causing the frost build up. You must replace the flapper - a $5 - $7 part but not too difficult to replace. I find the flapper last only about 2 years and frost problem reappears. Forget about a "weak heater".

Frost buildup in frost free freezer

There is a defroster built into the ice maker to melt the ice a little around the edges before dispensing on most ice makers it may need replacing.

Frost buildup in ice-dispenser tube

Open the freezer door and look down the ice chute while you shine a flashlite up the dispenser cute from the outside. If you see light around the chute door, it needs to be replaced. The problem you describe is almost always air laekage around that flap. Post back if you need more help.
