SOURCE: 42HDS69 cable input is only thing working

You need the original remote controller to be able to switch input modes.Universal ones usually don't work. If youdon't have the original remote and can't find it ever then the only way to reachyour tv is through coaxial antenna port. Soyou can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your red yellowand white cables (rca cables from a dvd, game consoleetc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with acoax cable. This worked for me. It placed the connection to channel 4and other channels are still working,

You can buy the RF Modulator from: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180299245670

SOURCE: Hitachi ultravision model number 42hds69 cable problem.

Usually you need a decoder to receive "Cable" With your "Cable" usually you connect the Cable antenna, to the Cable "Box" form the "Box" to the Audio Visual EXTERNAL inputs, in the back of the TV. Now IF your TV can receive the "Cable" directly, then you would have to connect the Antenna, into the rear of the TV, now you would go to the "Tuning" section, and, the TV, would automatically "Search" for any available channels. They would then, be displayed at the end of the scan. Please find a user manual below, this will help you tune in, IF you can. If you cannot, you will have to get a cab;e "Box" and a remote. Hookup to the TV, from the "Box" to the TV, via, Audio and Video cables. You use the "Box's" remote to change channels and volume. You first must set the TV's Volume, & picture setting, the TV, is basically just used as a "Monitor" for the "Box". Hope this helps..

We have a hitachi 42HDS69 that has RS232C port on it. What type of adapter/convertor do we need to attached to a normal vga?

The RS232 connector is not a video input. You won't be able to connect a VGA signal to it with any kind of adapter. If you must feed a VGA signal into your 42HDS69 you'll have to use a VGA to HDMI converter. There can be compatibility problems with these converters, so make sure you buy from a vendor with a lenient return policy.

I have lost all my HDMI inputs for my Hitachi L42X01AU, i had my PS3 hooked up and it worked but now when i hook it up none of the HDMI inputs work

try unplugged all units involved---HDMI does not like being hooked or unhooked with units powered and or on.

Wait a while and make the connections and then power set, box, whatever is inline back---the units will try to reboot and that may cure the issue- it is worth trying

I just want to know how to hook up a hdmi cord to an old big screen hitachi tv

You can't, at least not directly. Older sets don't have any HDMI inputs, only composite video (the yellow RCA jack) and possibly component video (red, green and blue RCA jacks). Converters that take an HDMI input and generate the necessary video outputs are available, but they aren't cheap. And don't fall for the adapter cables you might find advertised with an HDMI plug on one end and RCA plugs on the other that supposedly convert the signal for you. HDMI can only be converted with some active electronics; a simple cable just won't work. If you want to hook and HDMI-only device to your old Hitachi, you'll need the converter.

The message: input: hdmi Front keeps showing up in the upper right hand corner of the tv.

Try selecting your input one at a time. What happened is you choose the hdmi as your input but at the back of the tv you connected your input wires (to maybe hdmi2 or input 1 or input 2, etc. Good luck.

Is there someway to hook up our Hitachi 42HDS69 to our laptop

Your computer should have a DVI port to make this possible since your TV dont have a VGA port. If your computer have a DVI port then an HDMI/DVI cable is all you need. This allows you to connect you computer or laptop to you tv through the HDMI connection on your tv.
