Problem for Toshiba Satellite M35X-S163 (PSA72U-2KS00U) PC Notebook

THe external power led is on. The battery led is orange. When I press the power button is glows blue for about 1 second then nothing. The computer won't boot, nothing. The power supply seems to be working fine. Would a dead battery cause this laptop to not boot?

It might be the case. Can you start your computer with the battery removed and AC power applied?
