in the printer driver there is a option that whenever you install a new cartridge it has to be reset otherwise it shows the message the above you quoted. one more option is there that is change the chip of yellow cartridge and black, after doing this please whip circuits of the cartridge and printer carriage block before installing the cartridge

The fact is that you there is no ink counter in this machine. It is simply the fact that the refill ink is faulty as many of them are. I don't mean to be cheeky, but try putting a genuine cartridge in your printer. You will do your prints and the printer a huge favor and at the same time save your self a mess of head aches. As a canon technician, I can tell you that yours is a very comon story amoung those who choose to use non genuine cartridges, and the fact is that you are really not saving a whole hell of a lot of money by using refills.

SOURCE: my printer is ip1800
Keep your printer of nozzle checking. Refill Cartridge are most likely showing message "low ink", but it's actually not, i mean running good as new.

May I know the product number of your printer?
however before we proceed with the issue, I would like to tell you that HP printers do not support the refilled cartridges, or the message you are getting could be a false message, print a test page to confirm if the printer is printing yellow ink or not. you could also check the ink level on the test page
