I have a toshiba satellite a101 laptop with windows xp sp2. I can not access the internet. When I tried accessing the internet on the safe mode it actually worked. I tried using an anti-virus but that did not work either, tried installing the drivers for the network adapters but that did not work. When I ping my IP address or microsoft.com it gives me a request time out .. any suggestions ?

SOURCE: Toshiba satellite laptop keeps restarting

Is the fan working? It might be overheating.
Or one of the drivers is corrupt, and crashing the computer. The only way to solve that is by remotely (by means of starting from CD with a mobile OS).

SOURCE: Toshiba satellite A215-S5815 WLAN issues with Win.XP SP2

They don't list an XP driver for your model. Based on diljale's comments, though, I was able to discover that Atheros uses a single driver for all of its models, and he says you've got an Atheros card.

The direct download link, which may even work, is here:
http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/driver_wifi_atheros_27763A.exe

If that does not work, go here:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?origin=new&ct=DL

Pick operating system XP
Pick All Categories, and scroll down to Wi-Fi (It may be so far down the list it won't show on your screen).
Find the first/latest Atheros Wi-Fi driver and you should be in business.

You may also wish to consider visiting http://www.radarsync.com and downloading the free software there, which attempts to tell you which drivers are out of date and tries to offer download links to the newest versions. RadarSync has many many flaws, but it can sometimes be helpful.

Toshiba satellite is stuck safe mode it's running Windows XP.I tried restart f8 start normal a black screen with bunch stuf& starts in safe mode. What's wrong how can I get it out of safe mode?

First you should really consider upgrading from Windows XP because it is no longer supported and the chances of your computer becoming infected are extremely high.

Pressing the F8 command will only access Windows RE where you can access startup repair safe mode etc.

If the computer is only allowing you to go into safe mode that is a good sign that something is severely wrong with your OS.

While in safe mode you should try and access system restore, but this will only work if 1) you have turned on system restore and 2) your system has a restore point to access.

Have you added any new hardware or programs to the computer? If yes, then the new addition may be the cause of this issue. You can use device manager to rollback any changes or access programs and features to delete any program changes.

Other then that, if none of the above suggestions work I would strongly suggest booting from the disk media to access Windows RE too recovery the computer or just to re-image the computer.

Hope that helps.

Forgot window xp password to login for my Toshiba Satellite a105 s2194 system unit Model PsAA5U-00Z01C

Lost Windows password:

  • Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode. XP only.
  • Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
  • Reformat computer.
  • Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html
  • Free software option would be Hirens Boot CD. This one is command prompt only. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ Must follow instructions exactly.

Satellite L655D-S5145 bios password reset

For windows xp, there is a separate hidden account called administrator. The easiest way to access it is to go into safe mode. You do this by tapping F8,F10,F12 depends on the PC model. or look for "setup" just after the self test, and before windows starts to load. Once on the start up menu choose safe mode. Click on the administrator account. From there you can change any passwords in the control panel under user accounts. You do not have to know any of the passwords to change them.
