Re: error code 0x80040702

You should go into your computer to my computer. then file programs.look for palm then open. look for your user name open then look for backup file rename the back up file then hot sync the phone then use the same user name it will start up a new back up folder. you might have something on your phone that the phone do not agree with. this should work if you hot sync your phone to your computer.

They are probably in a format that the pda can not handle.

HotSync error ((sys 0505) (0,841)

I also had this problem. Searched for a solution and found that the error message refers to older programs incompatible with newer models of the palm. If you do a Hot Sync on a different and/or newer model palm device there may be these incompatibilities. The usual problem programs are mypalm and mytreo. You need to delete them by
first doing a Hot Sync
going to Applications on the palm
tap on the menu icon (or the left upper corner of the display)
tap on Delete
go down the list to delete each of these programs.
Hot Sync problems should stop
If not, you need to do a hard reset and then slowly add third-party software one by one and look for problems.

Palm M515 and compatibility with Vista Home Premium

I was having a similar problem with my M515.  I had originally installed the Palm Desktop from my CD, which was an older version.  When I totally uninstalled the old version and installed the newer version from the Palm website I was able to do a successful sync.  I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate and Palm Desktop version 4.1.4

Fatal Alert

Here is Epocrates answer: "... A fatal error when opening the Epocrates application typically indicates that one of our database files has become corrupt. HotSyncing again may restore functionality. If not, uninstalling and reinstalling our application should correct the problem. Other Fatal Error messages relate to not enough free memory on your mobile device for a complete installation or, your mobile device does not use the correct Palm OS version. Please verify you meet our minimum system requirements by returning to our web site, click Support, and then click System Requirements by your Epocrates application. Delete Epocrates Palm/Win from your mobild device. On your mobile device, tap the clock (located upper left corner of your screen), tap App then Delete. Select the following files (one at a time) then tap Delete. You may not see all of these files on your mobile device. It may take several minutes to delete a file. The file will disappear from the program list or your mobile device will turn off when complete. Fatal Exception every time I sync.

Check docs to go and Avantgo Documents to Go and Avantgo are usually the culprit with me; if you use these try to reinstall. Check (delete and reinstall) "complex" applications, build to be able to use databases on the SD card. The final straw is the procedure suggested by Palm; -make a copy of your back-up from the palm directory; program files/palmone/van/backup. - do a hard reset - reinstall the applications one by one, hotsync after every install until you have found the offending application

Errors sync with Outlook 2003 and Tungsten T3

I did search through the forums before posting and the only "solution" I found was to buy Chapura PocketMirror for $30 which I refuse to do. I should be able to sync this palm with Office without having to spend even more money.

Main memory upgrade

I have many a time wanted to increase the main memory in my PDA. Sadly, there is no way to upgrade the main memory (unless you are handy at soldering, regulating voltages, and all that fun stuff). I have seen some web sites that upgraded older Palm's main memory but never an IPAQ (ie. Pocket PC). I suggest removing the older program before installing the newer version. If you have addresses saved in the program, I would first save those to a differnt file so that the uninstall does not delete them. To uninstall the program from the PDA tap the windows button, tap settings, tap the system tab, tap memory, and finally the remove programs link near the bottom of the screen. A list will appear with all the programs loaded on your PDA. Just tap the one you want and then tap remove.

How do I handle error 0x80040702 Failed to load dll:HSAPI

Old version of Palm Desktop There appears to be a few versions of older Palm Desktop that the installer has problems overwriting. Did you have a Treo 300 or an older device perchance? A solution from Brighthand forums: "Error Number: 0x80040702 Description: Failed to load dll: HSAPI The problem appeared to be that I still had the older Palm desktop software (version 3.01) from my Palm V on my computer. Uninstalling the old software solved my problem. While this may be a bit obvious, I was surprised that the Treo 650 installation instructions had a section on upgrading from another palm device, but failed to mention that you need to uninstall the old software. " One reason that you run into this problem may be that you dont have sufficient rights to make registry changes on your PC (including one installer removing and older installation). Check with your IT Admin to ensure you can do what you are trying to do.
