Re: coolpix 4100 download problem

Try using Quictime-Alternative, it plays the .mov files without having to download the full quicktime player.

Hi i have lost all my software for my camera and wondered the best way to obtain more software so i can download pics to my pc

1) Go to the Nikon website look for menu options Support and/or downloads. You should be able to download all you need for free.

2) Assuming you're using Win XP or later, you should be able to connect you camera to the PC via a USB lead, Switch the camera on and look in My Computer for an extra drive. Open the drive and cut or copy and paste to your PC.

Coolpix 3200

  • Switch off camera and remove memory card.
  • Insert memory card in computer (if you do not have a reader, buy a USB memory-card adapter: they are not expensive)
  • Open "Explore" and find the disc-drive which corresponds to the memory card (e.g F, G, H, ...etc).
  • Copy the ****.jpg files to your hard-disc. If you double click one, your photo-browsing program should open and display the picture.
  • If you don't have any photo-editing software, you can download free programs such as this one:

Nikon Coolpix 4100 software

Download the coolpix 4100 software here. I'm pretty sure it works for any coolpix but I just used it for my 4100. I called Nikon's pacific repair facility and was directed to the website by a rep. This is actually faster than the original installation software.

Cannot view the movies I made on my camera and downloaded to my Vista PC

I assume you can view them in you camera, right? If not, the following solution will not help.

The .MOV Apple QuickTime format Panasonic uses for its camera movie clips cause problem on with viewing, as seen from several other problem posts here and the net.

Some computer use a Win 32Bit operating system, other better ones use a Win 64. It is hard to believe QuickTime would let you load a 64bit version into a 32bit OS, or vice versa. But who knows. Rather double clicking on te file name itself, open QuickTime, then go to File Open and Browse to the file and select it that was. If this doesn't work, go to QuickTime website and try their User Forums first to ask a question or find a thread talking about movie files not playing. Else, CONTACT website and ask question. Post any solution here for readers.

Importing movie onto PC with Vista

I think you should install a software program that has the capability of opening mov file. This would become a plug-in for other programs and enable them to interpret it as mov file. or click on your movie file from camera and change its properties to be opened by a certain software that can open mov file and use it as the default program to open that file.

Photos wont open

There seems to be a corruption of file type between camera and computer The fact that the computer wont play mov. but the camera will if back loaded seems odd. JPEG files can and do go wonky if back loaded to camera after editing because essential info for the camera has been deleted. A JPEG file as produced by a camera is properly called an EXIF file because has has EXtendedINformation. Lose it and the camera wont know it. Like wise older PC's such Win 98 and older software don't know about EXIF so they chop it off So something like that is happening here. Check out Tech Support at Kodak see what they can tell you.

Not able to watch video shoots on my PC (windows XP 2000) after transferring from camera

The problem is exactly as described in the message. Windows media player will not playback files of the type .MOV unless you revert back to WMP version 6.4 (current version is WMP 11) and then install the appropriate codec which is available on this link; Much easier and better way to play back files of this type you need different player software - the best being "Quicktime" which you can download for free from this link; If you want a user manual for your camera go to this link; and click where it says "download pdf" I hope this helps, please ask again if you need any help with installing quicktime, enjoy your movies :)
