Hi there,

PS3 needs a huge amount of power several times that of an xbox 360 it sounds like you have a shortage, a bit like when a fuse blows it will cut the power if theres to much ampage or vice versa.

How can i get my ps3 to use the av cable instead of the HDMI cord

Hello there,
There is no way to connect an AV cable directly to a PS3; however, you can purchase a special cable that convert the HDMI to AV. Here is one such cable. http://www.amazon.com/Universal-S-Video-Audio-Cable-GameCube/dp/accessories/B000IAPGII
I hope this has helped! Thumbs up are much appreciated.

I took my PS3 to a friends and we used an HDMI cable to hook it to his tv and when he brought it back to my house and now it wont work, i use the red ywllow and white audio/video plugs. why wont my...

hey, when you used the HDMI cable at your friends place, the PS3 display got set to 1080p. to bring it back to standard definition (red, white, yellow wire), follow these steps.

turn off you TV and PS3

turn on your TV

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings.

Now you should be able to see your PS3 menu on the TV.

Happy to help :)

Ps3 worked fine at home using HDMI cable. took it to worked and used the AV multi out rca jacks and i get nothing just a black screen.

Please try these following steps :

Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it and then about 5 seconds later it will beep again. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.

Step 3. Wait for your PS3 to start.

This solution basically resets the video output back to standard definition.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

Here is a tip if your printer HP is still under warranty then you can send or contact to HP Center or the one you buy from it. To be sure that your printer is working back normally.

My ps3 wont turn on and i think a disc is inside. what do i do?

I just want to let everyone know that I had the same problem. This isn't a fix to make the machine work again. This is a fix that will let you get a disc stuck in the machine out when the ps3 won't power on. Turn the machine power off via the switch in the back. Hold the power button on the front of the machine down for about 15-30 seconds. Then, without letting go of the power button on the front of the machine, turn the switch on in the back. This made my machine power on for about 20 seconds, just long enough for me to get the disc out of machine. I could then take the ps3 back to the retailer I purchased it from. Just to clue everyone in on a possible cause of this problem, the woman from Sony techical support, the one who told me this trick, said that this is happening only when playing Activision games. For me it was Call of Duty 4. Binary Bob

Ps3 power

Try and find a better/different adapter, maybe one the is specific for the PS3 or gaming in general. Don't use one of those universal ones, could fry your PS3.

Not sure what kind of outlet/plugs you guys have out there (I'm in Canada, eh) but I've provided a couple of links that should help you out. Personally, NYKO is a great choice, quality stuff and they have lots of accessories for the PS3.

Due to the volt difference; Europe (220v) vs. Canada & US (110v)
you MIGHT also need a power converter. Check the console, it will probably be able to handle 110v-220v but double check to be sure. I have heard all kinds of answers and opinions about it but best to check your PS3 yourself. If it odesn't support both voltages then you will also need to get a power converter.
