Panasoinc cf-r4 notebook wireless is turned off - how do I turn it back on? There is no manual switch that I can see...

This answer assumes the internal wireless device is turned on and broadcasting signal. It is not.

However, I managed to find the answer myself after a few hours of tinkering and searching the internet for some information.

Most laptops these days have an manual switch on the body of the computer that will turn off (and back on) the internal wireless circuitry. This can be used when you might be on an airplane and want to use your laptop but should not be brodcasing any signals that might interrupt the plane's controls. Other situations where you might not want to be broadcasting a wireless signals may come to mind as well.

On this particula unit, there is no such manual switch.

What I did find is an internal application that will do this. I found an icon on the RH part of the task bar that shows the device not broadcasting. To get to the commands to turn on/off the broadcasting, you have to right-click the icon. Then it displays options that allow you to do this. Once the wireless circuitry is broadcasting again, following the normal procedures to connect to a wireless access point worked just fine.

Can not enable wireless on toughbook cf-52 "radio is off"

Most Panasonic Toughbooks have a Physical On-Off
Wireless Switch Built-In. I belive the one on the CF-52
is located on the front right-hand side hidden behind
the handle. It is a small switch and you must slide it
to the right side (On) as opposed to the left side (Off).
Most modern Toughbooks also have a Wireless Switch
Utility which may be required. If so, you can find the driver at:

That is it. Good Luck.

Wireless connectivity

possible reasons that it is "off"

Physical switch on outside of case that has a turn on and turn off function. Make sure this is turned on.

Go to network places and find the connection that says wireless (or something similiar), it should say Enabled, if not then enable it.
