Manual for Sumvision TB32 Raid Enclosure

I've mislaid the manual for my Sumvision TB32 Raid Enclosure and need to know how to reconfigure the disks. Any idea where I can get one from? I've tried the Sumvision website but no joy.

Then reset NAS address to same as normal network, changing PC back as well.
Can now see NAS web admin from any PC on LAN, but cannot see it to map network drive!

Where can I download the drivers for Windows?

Drivers are for equipment, (hardware), in or connected to your computer, ie printer, network card, usb, video card etc. Windows is pretty good at finding the drivers for them automatically but if it fails you need to go to the manufacturers web site and download the appropriate driver. Or, if the hardware came with a disk insert the disk and run the install program which should automatically install the driver.

Drivers for Windows are supplied with with the operating system that you purchase from Microsoft or your local supplier.

My Mac no longer recognizes the drives

Raid 1 mirrors the disks, but they are still in an array. You need to identify which disk of the two failed. Replace the bad one and let the unit rebuild the raid if it can. This could take hours. Independently, I have not found them to work alone. They need the built raid array. I lost a ton of pictures on a 4 drive raided array that lost one drive, even though they were raided mirror.
Best bet is to see if your manufacturer will guide you through the diagnostics and procedures to restore the array for that unit.

Sumvision cyclone mkv 2 enclosure will not conect to my computer the drivers are missing where can i get them from

From this and several other posts you made on this device (I assume you are the same Anonymous poster), it appears you do not have a formatted hard drive installed in the unit, or you didn't know the computer is treating it as an external drive (even if it calls it an "unknown" USB device. Your computer is looking for the file system in the enclosure. The directions for finding the unit from a Windows computer (written for the mkv, not the mkv 2, but they would probably work the same) are given in the review article linked below. Note: if you don't find any "Unallocated" disk, look in "My Computer" for a drive that isn't your internal hard drive or other usual device. Probably all you have to do is save your media files to this drive and they will be available to play on your A/V system.

My power source on one of my 500GB external hard drives seems to have malfunctioned. I am told that I can switch the faulty hard drive to my other and recover my data. I opened it up but have no idea what...

I assume you have a RAID 1 or "safe" configuration, i.e., two 500 GB hard disks which give you a total of 500 GB "safe" data. If you have a RAID 0 configuration (two 500 GB disks for a total of 1000 GB "fast" data), half of your data is now inaccessible and you'll need to ask a data recovery firm; I'd advise against trying to do it yourself.

With RAID 1 configurations, it's all much, much easier and safer.

The following does not work with "ALL" RAID 1 units; but it does work with most of them!

You need an external USB enclosure (not RAID), single disk, compatible with your existing disk. There are also "open air" connectors such as one from Kraun which accommodates both SATA and EIDE drives, and comes with an external power source, and which I warmly recommend (can be a lifesaver).

Connect the hard disk to the device's USB cable, connect the USB to your PC, and finally connect the power source. On some computers you need to first connect the power source to the drive, and connect the computer to the contraption last.

At this point there are two possibilities. One (rare): the RAID1 enclosure employed a partitioning/filesystem scheme which your PC does not support (e.g., HFS or something). You may be able to "see" the hard disk from a computer which "speaks" that filesystem: a Mac, or maybe a Linux computer.

Two (most common): the manufacturer used the simpler and cheaper and faster way, which is to split the EIDE signal and add very little circuitry to countersplit the drive controls. So the disk content is directly compatible with your PC. Also, the partitioning and format are the PC's native ones to save time and resources on data format conversion. You will hear the tingling sound of a hard disk being recognized, and all your data will be there.

Read EXTRA CAREFULLY your RAID1 manual for how to replace a broken disk: you want the GOOD disk to be copied onto the new, empty one, and not vice versa! If in doubt, buy two new disks and replace BOTH of them in the RAID1 enclosure. Then copy the data from the old, surviving disk onto the two brand-new, maybe bigger and faster ones.

Hope this helps, let me know how it goes.
