Thanks for that link, I will keep it handy! Be careful however, because the exact same symptom can be caused by a stuck shutter. To tell if it is a stuck shutter follow these steps: 1. Turn off the flash!! 2. Look down into the lens. 3. Take a picture. Did you see anything change? The opening at the center should be momentarily covered by a matte black shield. If you take a picture and see no change inside the lens then the shutter is stuck closed or open. If Canon finds your shutter to be stuck and not a CCD failure, the repair will not be free.. very not free. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Most DSLR cameras (like your Canon) don't have a live view - in other words, you can't "see" the image before you capture it. You must use the viewfinder.

My Canon A610 just had the same thing happen too! I e-mailed Canon support and they "offered" a refurbished different model for $100. Otherwise they told me to send it to them, they'll give me an estimate of what the repairs will cost. Cost??? This is Canon's issue, Their problem! MY cost should be $0.00!! I've been a Canon customer for years! I'm buying a Nikon!

The Display button manually turns the LCD display on or off to save batteries. If you accidentally had turned the LCD off, It should only take one press of the button to turn it back on and leave it that way. As such, it's not you but the camera. The A570 IS is relatively new. Your camera is likely still under warranty. If so, contact Canon for warranty repair (see the following link):

Possibly the same problem I just had with my A75 (and shared with another post here).
Below the LCD are two buttons (versus four on the A70). The button on the left is the Print/Share button, which is new to the A75, while the display button (DISP.) toggles the LCD and what's shown on it on and off.
Hope this works.
