1 Answer

Format Problem??? Problems with IOMEGA Prestige 1TB External Hard Drive, Desktop 3.5". Has been formatted and won't work on PC Windows, Vista or a Mac. Plugged in to a HDMI Device to play through the TV and it says no device connected. Have tried with other devices other than the Iomega and it works fine.

SOURCE: Iomega Prestige 1TB External Hard Drive (34275) adapter

Hi LeoChen,

Most of the Iomega drive adapters do but not all. There's no information on Iomega's site regarding the voltage but if you look carefully at the fine print on the adapter, it should have a Input Voltage Range listing, normally 100-240, if this is the case then as long as you have a cord that fits from the wall to the adapter the adapter will adjust itself to voltage within this range. If you have one of the few that staes only 90-120V for range then the answer is no, but Targus sells a universal adapter for laptops that comes with an appropriate tip for your drive that does support 90-240V.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

I have a IOMEGA 1TB hard drive, and I formatted It and it gives me only 92.7MB free out of 92.8 MB and not the full 1TB and I'm using on my PC windows 8 pro and It won't back up all my files what do I do?

I would connect drive and from dos prompt run diskpart. Make sure you have extended dos partition that has the entire drive space. You can type at the dos prompt: diskpart ? for help. Once you have partitioned the whole drive format it with NTFS.

My hard drive was working properly earlier and now i plugged it into my laptop and it says that i need to format it for it to work, it shows the icon for it on my computer but won't open. I don't...

The disk is dying - hardware defect. Last attempt to save some of your files: take apart the casing and extract the actual hard disk from it; put it directly inside a desktop and try to access it from there. If the disk isn't recognized or you get an IO error when you try then the damage is too great. If you only get a format error you could try this program

Iomega 1 T external that was used on Dish to save

Sure, that could work? If it saves in an industry standard format (avi, mpg, wmv), then yes. If not, then look for a converter (may need PC)

I have a 1TB iomega external drive but it only shows as 10GB. I have reformatted but it only allows 10GB. What am I doing wrong?

make sure u r formatting in NTFS format since FAT format does not recognize big drives. u can try to use third party software and still do it in FAT32 as long as it is under TB.
