After installing SP3 my Asus 900 C drive is full (3.7 GB), even though my data and most programs are on the D drive, which has 6 GB free. Can some of the Windows folders be moved across? John

Do not move Windows folders across to your D drive it will cause Windows to stop working.
You can change the Virtual memory from the C drive to the D drive, this will free up disk space on the C drive.
To change the Virtual memory follow these steps. : -
Click on Control Panel - System - Advance tab - Performance and click on Settings box - then Advance tab - in Virtual Memory click on Change box. Then change the Virtual Memory from the C drive (remove it) and set it up on the D drive. Use the same amount of memory or more but not less. You need to reboot for this change to take place.

Dear Sir,

Welcome to Fixya.

You cant able to move system folders from your C drive to D drive. If you moved some files from system drive to another drive, deffinately many of programs fails in execution. So you can remove unwanted softwares and files from your C drive to make space, and if you have CDs of software that is currently installed in C drive, you can remove those software from C drive and install it on D drive...it also helps to solve low disk space problem.

I think it helps. If you have any problem regarding this issue leave a feedback we were happy to assist you.

Have a Nice Day!

ASUS Notebook K52F/K62F Has 2 hard drives os(c:)1.1GB free of 74.5GB Data(D:)179GB free of 208GB Can I free more space in c drive by transferring it to D drive? If so how is this easy to do?

Your C: drive is almost full because of 2 points.
1. You have many files stored in either in Desktop or My Documents or Shared Folders or direct in C: drive. Or
2. You have a huge a list of programs installed in your computer.
If it is 1 then Clean or Move those files to the other drive.
And if it is 2 then uninstall most of the heavy programs and re-install them with customize installation location and select the other drive (d:).
Thanks

How do I find my folders with multiple file types (stored on a second Drive E:) using XP SP3, now that I boot from a different C: drive?

Have you checked to see if these hardrives have a jumper on master or slave? It's a small white or black piece that connects two pins in the hard drive. Sata drives won't have pins or jumpers

also consider plugging the drive into an IDE to USB cable and plug into a system with a different operating system. Or look up a program called r studio. it's one of the better file recovery software out there. It also recovers in "original file/older structure" which you are trying to do.

is your machine using sata drives or older IDE drives?

Is it possible to partion System drive.?

If your C drive take up all the 250GB, and the used data is not up to 250 GB( I means there are some free space on your c drive) you could use other partition software to release some free space ( resize partition) then create new partition, with the help of partition software, it could apply the operation without re install OS.

I have a asus eee pc 900 ha and believe the hard drive is no longer good. Slow boot up (9 minutes is fast) and there is a light clicking sound as it tries to boot or access a program. What specs do I...

Sounds like a hard drive problem to me too. I'd get it replaced ASAP. It is a standard 2.5" SATA drive in the 900 HA. In terms of specs, you'll get better performance with a 7200 RPM drive, but worse battery life. Don't get a hard drive a ton bigger than you need - there's no point. Save yourself some money that way. A 250 or 320GB 7200 RPM drive will certainly work. It takes 4 small screws to remove the current hard drive. The only other thing you need to consider is whether or not you want to image the drive, or just back it up.
My recommendation for a cloning program is Norton's Ghost (which is not free). At the same time, for a situation like this, I wouldn't bother imaging the drive and would just get a fresh install of Windows if possible - that's just me though. If you need any more help don't hesitate to ask! Alex

Have an older asus pc 900 with 20g in 2 seperate discs. the c drive only have 4g, and can't even update windows, any solutions. or how to add more space to the c drive, thank

If this drive is partitioned as it appears to be, then the only way to make the c: drive bigger is to backup your data and delete both partitions and recreate the partition as a single drive. Then re-install your windows program, restore your programs and recover your data from backup.

You could also purchase an external hard disk drive to store data in and leave your partitiions alone.

Lacie 320 GB Hard Drive acting as if full when it's not.

Simplest solution: back up the data on the drive and repartition it (which will wipe it). Otherwise it sounds like it could be a problem with the file tree or structure of the drive, the configuration files could be corrupt, some program could have stored temporary files in a hidden place that cannot be deleted without making the program delete them, etc. If you are on a mac, spotlight Disk Utility and use it to repartition. If you are on a PC use the search thing from the start menu and find a program called disk management (or something similar to that, you'll know it when you see it.) external drives are annoying. i kick mine into the wall periodically for good measure.
