Sansa e260: Firmware download problem

Hi. For the life of me I cannot get this firmware downloaded. Last time I had my tech guy @ work do it for me so I do know it's possible.

Basically...everything looks good to go, it downloads to 100% then I get this error message: "The installation failed. Please try again later." I made sure I was in MSC mode. What am I doing wrong??? Advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm having problems downloading music files onto my Sansa 2.0 GB from my mac laptop, is there any software that i can use on the mac that allows such function from the mac to the Sansa 2.0 GB? If so , where can i get it, or is there something that i have to do with my mac that I'm missing to get my music files downloaded on to my Sansa e200. I NEED TO KNOW HOW PLEACE!

Same deal with a Sansa e250. I've got v1.02.15 and updater says v1.02.24 is available. Everything looks fine, downloads 100%, then "The Installation failed. Please try again later."

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Does anyone out there have a solution? I see 4 other questions, but no answers. Does this mean that it's impossible? Thanks

Yea do you do that and then open it with a screw driver and then pour a little water on the processing chip, that would fry the chip, then take out the chip and replace it with an pentium III and you should be fine.

Sansa e260 firmware

Mine was a bit more FUBAR I guess. I have a Sansa e260. I had rockbox on it, went to switch back to the firmware. Uninstalled rockbox and on reboot... the e260 was refreshing the database and then came to a frozen green screen.

My e260 was already in MSC mode. I did the steps above but was still stuck.

The solution that worked was one posted by "Slaughter" on anythingbutipod.

The ultimate fix for all e2xx v1 problems - Format, enter recovery mode, downgrade firmware Link (you'll need to format the drive), reinstall newest firmware via newest Sansa Updater, reload tunes.

Formatting the sansa e260

if you've already followed the below instructions, restart the computer once and then replug the Sansa player:
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Sansa e260: Firmware download problem

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

u have to wait till the screen will be black. I had the same problem with my sansa. it can lasts 1 or 2 days. after screen is black and then do following: 2. change lock switch to orange position 3. Press and hold rec button (at left side) 4. while pressing the rec button, turn the player on 5. it will appear the boot menu. connect the USB cable and try to continue the firmware 6. if it doesn't work, do a firmware downgrade. download this file: http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe 7. execute the application while in boot mode good luck darek
