Bamboboy, Stop yelling at your sister! ! ! If it worked fine after falling to the floor then there is something else wrong! First Prove that the pc works with a KNOWN GOOD monitor. Next, you may want to do the flashlight test with your BAD lcd monitor. Reconnect monitor to an already fully booted pc with the WIN-desktop screen showing. Then and only then turn on your LCD monitor and note what happens. If still black screen is what you see, then shine a bright light about 1" from screen and look very closely to see if the desktop is being displayed even though the screen appears BLACK. If the power supply is only partly bad you may see the desktop. I suspect that you have a power supply problem from your description. You should visit YOUTUBE and search for video clips of LCD monitor disassembly and typical repairs of units that have similar BLACK screen symptoms such as yours. You need to read more posts on fixya that I and others have made on other brands of LCD monitors that have same symptom. You will find plenty of them!! Get back to me after doing test and some more research. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel on aol.com Bye for now.

MacBook Pro took a drop, boots up but nothing on the screen.

The screen, the cable that connects to the screen or something internal has taken a hit. You'll need to get it serviced to find out which. Sorry, but there's not much diagnosis we can do from a distance.

Dyson Slim - suction is fine on bottom, but pipe has no suction at all. No blockage. When I remove pipe from the back at the bottom, I can see round white plastic thing in the opening. Right before it...

There is a diverter valve on those that changes suction from the hose to the floor when you pull the handle back. It usually makes the machine bind and not stand up. ( exactly what you are describing ) You need to take it to your local vac shop and they can fix it for you. The part that fell out was the retaining disc and a screw went in it to hold the diverter valve spring in place. Doubful if you can repair this on your own. It will not make since how it should go back if you've never seen it before.

PS2 was dropped, now disc won't spin and can't be read.

I just looked at a friend's PS2. Same story, tripped over cord, unit fell to floor. Unit powers up and sys. config. screen comes on but the drive didn't seem to be spinning up. Opened the case and found that the shaft of the drive motor for the laser tray had popped out of it's centering retainer ( little black bushing/holder). With the top off the unit, looking at the unit from the front, on the right side in the rear corner you'll see the motor. The worm shaft (bronze colored rod) runs towards the front of the unit. Where it ends it should sit centered in a black plastic holder, if it's off to the side a little pressure will pop it back in. Put the cover back on, and power it up, you should hear the drive spinning up. If it does you should be set. Hope this helps.

Noisy on rugs!

Are the rugs long haired or short haired? Most likely the suction is just causing the noise when it picks up the rug and the buzz saw could be the beater bar hitting the rug then. I actually own a DC14 and it does the same thing and the rugs like to be dragged along. Nothing really to fix this, just the way it is. You could try it with the beater bar raised and see how well it works then but this sounds normal.

Have a good day

Walking Washer

Front loading washers do not do well on the new "soft" flooring that is installed in so many homes. We placed a thick commercial style rug with thick rubber backing all the way under ours which was sitting on Pergo and it stopped the problem. This wasn't my idea, it was what the repairman told me AFTER a service call! You should be able to purchase such a rug at a hardware store or a large department store in a small size. The rug just needs to really stick to the floor.

Good luck to you and Thank you for using Fix Ya!
