I am Having trouble playing DVD, I have tryed cleaning and even differant disc, keeps freezing

Some players are better then others, try a different disc, if it plays then, player is fine, it's just not got a good enough laser eye to read the disc you want to play or laser eye is dirty. You might try cleaning laser ,player to see if that's problem. If it won't play other disks even after cleaning then it's time to replace player. Not sure what type disk your trying, dvd or blu ray, but I've noticed that dvd's play better in blu ray players, they have better laser eye for reading disc.

Since you don't indicate what you mean by "won't work", let me provide a few possibilities:

1) You close the door and you can hear the DVD spin, but no reaction on the screen other than some type of "loading" message. This indicates that the optics are attempting to read the DVD but are having difficulties. The operation may ultimately be successful and the DVD may start, but the movie will be unwatchable because of freezes etc. In this case, try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. A dirty lens can cause this.

2) You close the lid and do not hear the DVD spin. In this case, the optics can not even determine that a disc is in the machine. Again attempt to clean the lens. If that fails to at least cause the disc to spin, the optics have failed and need to be replaced.

3) Try a music CD. If that plays OK, but a DVD does not, then the optics are defective and need to be replaced. DVDs require a more powerful laser and will typically fail sooner than CD levels.

Did you try disconnecting the unit from the power for a few hours?

disc wont come up on the disc player? try to clean the reader by getting some dvd cleaner spray(duster spray) and shoot short blasts into the middle of the slot..make sure the disc is in playable shape.. no scratches

Sounds like the laser might be going out or dirty. You could try blowing some air in there to try and remove dirt. If that doesn't help then it might be going out.

If the dvd player is old it maybe the laser pickup lens dirty you can clean the lens but you have to be very very careful if you do try put no pressure on the lens
get a cotton bud/q-tip and clean the lens very gently you will not see much dirt but lite cleaning will remove a film from the lens

Try using a DVD/CD laser cleaning disc.It sounds like it's having trouble reading it.
Saying that with a lot of combi units sometimes the DVD drive fails down to using cheaper components to keep the price low.I guess that's the price you pay for buying two units in one.
Try cleaning the lens first though.

Hi. What I am trying to establish from my last question is whether the laser has become heat sensitive or whether there is a bit of dust buildup on the spindle table that might be causing the disc to have excessive wobble.
If the disc has excessive wobble, then the machine will have trouble tracking the outer tracks and will constantly skip as you have described after say 30 to 45 minutes.
If the laser has become heat sensitive then the same problem could potentially occur - The only difference being that if you were to restart the movie at that point, then the skipping would continue even at the beginning of the movie.
The first problem (wobble) is easy to fix - Clean the spindle table, the second problem may render the unit uneconomical to repair.

Get VLC

Then try and playback the dvd , also check on the dvd to see if there are any scratch marks or dirty marks ie finger prints etc , if there is , obviously clean the disc, if not get a disc cleaner for your dvd drive / dvd player and then try again afterwards.

Also try a different dvd and see if that makes any difference
