Question about Pentax Optio 33LF Digital Camera

1 Answer

SD card problem

I have a Pentax Optio 33 lf digital camera, it was working fine until I purchased a Sandisk 2gb SD card the other day. Camera will turn on, but won't take any pictures or do anything else. On the camera screen it keeps showing up as "Card not formatted", I try to format it, but camera just freezes saying "formatting..." & does nothing more, I then have to take the batteries out so that I can turn camera off!

When I insert my old 128mb sandisk card, the camera works fine. Is this new card the wrong type? The girl in the shop told me this was fine to purchase for my camera.

Help please.

Here is a list of compatable memory cards
http://www.4allmemory.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=search.memorySearch&model_id=42425
.. any SD or MMC card should work up to 4 gb ... so your 2gb should be ok .. i suspect that it may be damaged .. you can try formatting it in a USB card reader if you have one on your computer .. some laptops have the SD slot built in .. there was some compatability issues with memory cards for older cameras but there shouldnt be any with such a new machine .. make sure the contacts are clean and the "protect" switch (if any) is in the unprotected mode .. when you format the card it may take several minutes so give it time .. if you are going to take movies then its better to use a "high speed" SD card .. like the 133x mentioned in the above URL .. slow memory may cause missed frames or 15 fps instead of 30 fps record rates.. .
the specs on your camera do show SD and MMC compatability .but they dont show any brand preference .. .

Memory card Sandisk 4GB gives error memory card

The S50 uses SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card, and will not work in the S50. You will have to confine your choices to cards 2GB and smaller.

I have a pentax Optio E10 camera and put a 4gb sdhc memory card in but it doesnt respond when I switch it on - does this mean it is not compatible or is there a way of sorting the problem

The manual specifies SD cards up to 1GB. Cards bigger than 2GB are actually SDHC (SD High Capacity) cards and will not work in SD devices. 2GB cards may work; try at your risk.

My camera freezes

This camera supports only 512 mb sd card. If you use any bigger, it freezes. Tried with 1 gb and 2 gb and freezes, while 512 is just fine for the size of the pics of this baby.

Kodak 4 GB SD card (brand new) shows "card error" in Pentax optio

Hey,

The problem is your camera doesn't work with the 4gb card, its too big. Sorry!

Your stuck with 2gb cards. Id suggest to echange the card to two 2gb cards.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Largest capacity SD card for Pentax Optio S5N

The maximum supported size is most likely 2GB SD Card. Cards with 4GB and more are following a new (incompatible) standard called SDHC (SD High Capacity), SDHC cards work only in devices specifically supporting SDHC. The Optio S5N uses the old SD standard where 2GB are the maximum size.
