If it is a thermostat there is nothing wrong with jumpering the supply across to the out feed to make sure that the rest of the heating side is OK before you buy a new stat.

You only need to run the machine for a minute or so to acertain if it all works

How to get to motor on hoover vhc691b?

Very rare a motor fails on a hoover drier normally its the capacitor that fails. you can hear the motor humming but the drum wont rotate to proof its the capacitor turn the machine on press start listen for the motor humming open the the door of drier turn the drum by hand fast then shut the door as fast has possible then the drum should start going around . then this proves its the capacitor fault you are doing the job of the capacitor giving the motor a start .

Lg dryer dle7177 cutting off during cycle

I had a tumble dryer that stopped working and after much investigation it turned out to be an internal thermostatic switch and lots of fluff around the internal filters. ( Mine had 2 of them 1 would cut the heat and kick back in when the temperature dropped and the other one would completely cut all power rendering the drier non usable until cicuit breaker thermostat was replaced. The reason they cut out is to prevent overheating and possible fire. When the thermostat gets to certain temperature it breaks the circuit. Apparently you shouldn't stop the drier until it has completely cooled down as there will be too much heat which could cause a fire, which is why most drier cycles have 10 minutes of cool/ non heated air at the end. So in conclusion I would take all the filters out and give them a good clean and try to avoid opening the door while there is still a lot of heat in the drier. I'm not sure if this will help but its a starting point.

After fitting new battery on my fjr 1300 Drove a long journey stoped and it would not start as if the battery was dead. left it for a while and it started with loads of power in the battery any thoughts...

Have your charging system looked at, first do a simple multimeter test, get a multimeter, switch it on to Volts, start bike and see what it reads, put multimeter prongs directly on battery, very simple, if its below 12V you have a charging problem. If your battery is new and your charging system is faulty the bike will start and go, but when you switch it off the battery will be dead because it has not been charging. When you let a dead battery sit for a while it will charge itself a little, enough to start the bike up. Have you ever had a flat torch or mobile phone, it will die when battery is flat but when you try and switch them on again after a little while, they will work a little and die again, same with bikes, cars etc. All the best, Forever Two Wheels :)

My drier smells like a animal has died when heated up.

You will have to diss-assemble the dryer to look for the cause. I have run into that problem before, and found that a mouse electricuted himself by contacting the exposed wire terminals on the motor. When the motor warmed up, the dead animal smell was there. There are a lot of areas where a mouse could come in contact with live voltage and end up dead on an area which heats up, like near the heating element.

IHAVE A HOVER SIX TC650 WHICH WILL NOT HEAT UP ALTHOUGH THE DRUM IS WORKING FINE AND SPINNING.HAVE CHECKED THE FILTERS AND THEY ARE FINE.WHAT CAN BE WRONG

Hi.

Test and eventually replace the Dryer thermal fuse
The fuse is located on the blower wheel cover.
The fuse can be tested using a multimeter.
If the fuse has continuity , then is good.

Test the heating element and the thermostat Thermal cut-off .

Both are tested using a multimeter to read impedance. Set multimeter at Rx1, on Ohms.

To test the element disconnect element and point tester probes at element contact.
If there is no continuity, and the circuit is open, then the element is faulty.

The thermostat can be tested jumping its wires to bypass it, but there are many safety concerns doing this kind of test.
Better disconnecting the thermostat and reading Ohms, as for the element.
At room temp the thermostat must have low impedance, if it goes to infinity, and circuit is open at room temperature, then the thermostat is bad.

If both test good, and you have no heating at all, then it may be a bad electronic control, or a wiring problem.

All test and repair must be done by a technician.

If you need to contact a technician you can call the number listed on the owners manual.

How do I remove the pulley from the motor of my Hoover 5010D dryer to put onto a new motor?

Take a big tough wrench and put on shaft next to blower wheel. Now place a big tough wrench on the slotted place on the blower wheel. A place for a wrench is located on the blower wheel where the motor shaft goes into the wheel. Now holding one, try turning the other. Make sure you don't have one that has reverse threads. There are some models that do have them. They drive me crazy trying to determine which it is. They are normally real tight. About 1/3rd of the time I end up having to bust the blower to get it off. Although try not to if you don't have to because this is a part that seems to never go bad.

Hoover 5010D dryer

There should be two rectangular holes about 2mm wide and 10-12mm long. There is a wall mount bracket [D470] which you install against the wall and then the hardest part is getting the dryer on the bracket.
Obviously when installing the bracket make sure that the wall and the screws can hold at least 30kgs.

Kenmore Dryer fuses

don't worry about the thermostats they wont stop the drier from running set your meter to continuity should have a wave symbol on it touch the leads of the meter together to make sure its working should read zero then touch the leads to each end of the component and if it reads ol or open its bad any time you take a component reading you must make sure at least one side of the component is unplugged to prevent getting a false reading
