Ya it will very well support a pci adapter(wireless) but also check to that the adapter standard is compatible to router standard. i dont know your pci card type but a g standard card will support a g standard router for sure. If my solution was helpful to please vote for me

Dell optiplex GX620 desktop has an ethernet port on it, that is not an adapter, I cannot connect to the internet, I downloaded and installed a driver for a wireless ethernet adapter, but that has not...

Okay,..........

1) You can download a wireless Ethernet adapter driver all day, but if you Do Not have a wireless adapter card installed in your computer, the drivers do you no good.

Or if you do not have a wireless USB adapter plugged into a USB port.

Example of a wireless adapter card,

Example of a wireless USB device,

Example of an Ethernet adapter card,

If you are just going to hardwire the computer, just buy an Ethernet adapter card, (PCI version), and install it in your computer, (On the motherboard), in any available white PCI slot.

IF it is the Mini Tower model.

The Desktop, Small Form Factor (SFF), and Ultra Small Form Factor (SFF) computers, are too small in width for a regular size Ethernet adapter card.

They need a Low-Profile Ethernet adapter card,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833114034

This is for a Dell Optiplex GX620 Mini-Tower computer,

Scroll the page down until you come to the bold blue heading - System Board Components
This is an illustration of a Top view of the Mini-Tower's motherboard.

16 and 17 point to two PCI slots.
This is where an Ethernet adapter card that is the PCI version, will plug into.

PCI slots are White in color.
An example of a basic PCI slot, ( 3 are shown),

If you do decide to go wireless;

1) Wireless networking operates at half of the speed of wired networking.

A computer that is wired directly to an Ethernet adapter card, is twice as fast on the internet, as a computer that is connected wireless.

2) Make sure your Router is capable of wireless.
Make sure the wireless router has a built-in Modem, or that you have a separate Modem.

[ For DSL.
Phone line connects to Filter. Filter has a place for a telephone cable, and an Ethernet cable.
Ethernet cable connects to Filter, and other end connects to Modem.
Ethernet cable goes from Modem to Wireless router that does not have a built-in Modem.

OR,
Phone line connects to Filter. Ethernet cable from Filter goes directly to wireless router, that has a built-in Modem.

Computer has to have a USB wireless device, or a wireless adapter card, installed.

Generally all the Wireless Adapter that are B/G/N Wireless Standard compatible and avaliable in the market will work with your Wireless Router, depends if you want to go with a PCI adapter or a USB adapter.

Will it work with wireless broadband

Most desktop's don't have wireless adapters built in..so yes.

I recommend a PCI wifi adapter if you're far from the router...otherwise a simple usb wireless adapter is usually good enough to get the job done.

I'm unable to connect to the internet using my linksys wireless-g pci adapter to a Netgear router. It lists the router in the wireless network range, but cannot connect to it. Suggestions?

Go into the network settings through the browser. Go the where you change the "Channel" the router is transmitting with and change that to channel 6, instead of automatic. If you can access to router but not the internet, go to internet options through the browser and go to the connection tab and uncheck the box that deals with proxy server. That box should be unchecked and the box for automatically detect settings should be checked.

If it says local or unidentified network that means you are just connected to the router on the network but not through the internet. Try to go to manage wireless network, remover your network there and add it again, connect to your own network and make sure to type the correct network key., then check again. You can also try connecting to other wireless network to further isolate the problem.

I cannot connect my laptop computor to my main computor

Bluetooth is not WiFi,   they are two seperate technologies.

you need a Wireless adapter 802.11b/g for your laptop,

you would connect the two to each other using an adhoc connection,

If you had a wireless router for your internet you could connect directly to the router, (and then you would not have to have your main computer on for you to access the internet.

BTW if your Main machine is near your phone point (for internet connection) you would not need a wireless card for your pc, as you could connect via LAN cable to the wireless router (make sure you get one with lan ports)
