The camera takes just about any AA pair of batteries ... lithium will give you the most pictures .. your NiMH batteries should last longer unless they are old .. you may have one weak battery ... you can try a pair of standard alkalines to see if there is something wrong with the camera .. if those work ok then you need a new set of NiMH ... there is a new type out called "eneloop" .. they are just like normal NiMH except they dont go dead when you store them .. even after a year they are still charged .. with normal NiMH batteries as they age they will self discharge in 2 weeks or so .. so you have to charge them just before you use them ..otherwise they go dead on their own .. if you charge them then not use them for a week then you will not get nearly as many pictures ... the eneloop batteries fix that .. you can also recharge them many more times than standard NiMH batteries .. they cost about the same ..

My Nikon Coolpix L20 camera keeps telling me that my batteries are exhausted after one shot. The batteries are new and I have used two different pair with the same result.

I went to the Nikon website and was told it was a 'firmware' issue that had been resolved. However, their solution is to download the firmware onto your SD card and upload it onto your camera, which you CANNOT do because it doesn't read the battery. Sent them an email, if I find a solution I will post it.
I don't think I will buy another Nikon digital camera. I thought they were the best. I think that was in the past.

Keep putting new batteries in Nikon Coolpix L11 but keep saying low battery???

Hi,

Check if the charger is working. If yes Firstly, make absolutely sure that you have a pair of fresh HIGH QUALITY batteries, in fact go and buy a couple of duracells. Digital cameras are notoriously power hungry and it is very possible that a pair of cheap standard batteries will not be able to run it for more than a few minutes. Check that the terminals of the batteries and the camera are clean. If none of this works, and you did have fresh alkalines or equiv. then it will have to be returned for repair.

Thanks.

Camera shows battery exhausted with new batteries.

You should be using Nickel metal Hydride batteries (NiMH). Do not use Nickel Cadmuim(NiCd), Zinc carbon or alkaline.

My Nikon Coolpix L10 dose not want to turn on.

My daughter has a coolpix L10 that had a similar problem. Try this:

Put the camera in movie mode and turn it on. Press the menu button and go to setup. Go to the battery menu and make sure the correct battery selection is made (i.e. Alkaline, NiMH, etc.) She changed from alkaline batteries to rechargeable NiMH and the camera would do the same thing you are describing until we made the correct battery selection.

Does it have an AC Adapter?

From this page: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/CP7600/CP76A.HTM "The Nikon 7600 comes with two AA alkaline batteries, but I highly recommend picking up a set of rechargeable batteries and a charger. Read my NiMH battery shootout page to see which batteries currently on the market are the best, and see my review of the Maha C-204W NiMH battery charger, my current favorite. The optional AC adapter uses a "dummy battery" that slides into the battery compartment. This could be useful for offloading pictures after a long day of shooting, but really shouldn't be necessary for the vast majority of users." You should be able to find one for somewhere in the $30-40 range.

Battery problem

I find that the Nikon 4300 really burns through the batteries when the camera is set to use red-eye correction. This triggers three or so flashes for each picture. I think I get more than 30 red-eye corrected flash pictures on a set of batteries, but probably no more than 50. Taking outdoor shots w/o flash naturally is kinder on the batteries.
