this software has the mode to scanner and to scan. the pc has a printer connection right? and.... how to scan should be on the software for the printer. it recognizes the printer and it's looking for a scanner, this is why is telling you scanner connection under the scanner connections but if the use is with the printer as a scanner, it must've a software. maybe the printer a scanner button so the pc recognizes it as scanner.
Among with the scanner/printer, you recieved a cd with the machines drivers and software. You have to install these two to the laptop to make the machine work. When you install the software, you can use this to scan your letter. It should be called something like "hp solution center" or similar. There would be clear instruction/options there for your task!
Reboot your computer as well as your scanner, also check your data cable if properly connected as well as the power cord of your scanner, else try to uninstall your printer/scanner and reinstall it again. Reboot again and try connecting again. Usually, it is not possible to use your scanner simultaneously while printing.
Problems you may have while using the scanner often involve the operation of your software and computer. Operation problems usually occur because of:
Incorrect setup of the interface
Incorrect setup of your computer or software
Incorrect operation of your software See your Start Here poster to confirm that you have set up the scanner in the correct way. Also, see the documentation that came with your computer and software for possible solutions IF The scanner does not scan.
Try one or more of these solutions:
Wait until the Start button light stays green (ready for scanning).
Your system may not work properly if you use a USB cable other than the one supplied by EPSON. Use the USB cable that came with your scanner.
The scanner may not work properly when connected to the computer through more than one hub. In this case, connect the scanner directly to the computer's USB port, or through one hub.
Pressing the button does not start scanning Try one or more of these solutions:
For Windows XP users: Click the Events tab in your scanner's Properties dialog box and make sure Take no action is not selected. Also, make sure the desired button is selected in the Select an event list box, and Start this program is selected.
i would say possibly you are missing out on something..because if the other functions particularly photocopying are working then this should work..as in if the photocopying function works then the scanner is ok cause basically in photocopying the machine scans then prints... perhaps check whether you are correctly following procedure to scan..most hp all in ones have a button on them that you press and it automatically initiates scanning and simultaneously the software on the pc is initiated..try this,if not then try reinstalling the hp software..hope this helps..regards
What OS are you using? Do you have the full-featured software installed? Does the computer see the device properly? Scanners are extremely sensitive to anything that disrupts the bi-directional flow of data. So try a new cable and plugging into a different port (if using a hub or print server, connect directly to the computer). Try initiating a scan from the computer and see if that works.
If you do not have the full-feature software, the buttons on the scanner will not work.
Kindly install the scanner software for printer the driver software cd just re install it will install the scanner software and make sure in device manger there is not other usb device listed if it is there just remove it. And refresh it in will automatically install the driver.
I have the same problem. It was working fine, then after not using it for a few weeks, all the sudden I couldn't scan. I'm hooked up wirelessly through my router. I can initiate a scan both from my PC and from the scanner itself, when initated from the scanner my PC responds and shows the progress bar, and the scanner actually scans. However for some reason no data is being sent back to the PC. And after a few minutes I get an error message saying that communication was lost (or something like that) error TW007. Yesterday I called into brother support and was on the phone for an hour and a half. they walked me through verifying connectivity, uninstalling and reinstalling the software and drivers, but to no avail. In the end we made no progress. I can print without a problem, and fax and photocopy. But for some reason it seems that the scanner is not transmitting the information back to the computer, even through the connection was established and the computer is waiting for the data.
try downloading the latest drivers from epsons website. if coping is working and printing is working, it sounds like a software problem. Its possible there is a bug in the scanner part of the drivers.
i read somewhere it was SP3 causing the problem and to uninstall it if you can. I tried and it didn't work so the computer broke down a few weks ago and the idiots installed the wrong OS. they put on xp home instead of xp pro and the scanner is working. just wondering if, when i put xp pro back on will it still work.
