This is can be either an authentication fault - wrong user name and password, or a time out fault. It could be a couple of other things but they are very rare.

1) Make sure the authentication details are correct.
2) If it is your site and your scripts are timing out, if you use .php torun your site find your php.ini file and change the time out to something larger - not too large though!
3) If it an application you are using - see if it has an option to change the timeout duration - again increase it.
4) if you are uploading or downloading from someone elses site then maybe the file is too large - ot the site is under heavy traffic... try to arrange it so you use the site when people in that country are asleep.... if possible see if they have an international site -- so instead of yahoo.com - look for Yahoo.ne.jp -- use google translate to read the page and repeat.

Vmware - slow network on Windows 2000

  • First of all, review which network drivers is VMware using, as there are huge differences between drivers, the worst performance-wise is PCNet32 and the best are vmxnet and enhanced vmxnet.

  • Also, check the speed of the NIC, if it is fixed or auto-negotiation mode.

I cant go on youtube

First off, In firefox, go to tools > clear private data, and try again. If that doesn't work, ensure you have flash player installed you can tell this if you can see the video playing. But looking at your error, it should be a flash player problem.

If that doesn't work then try unplugging and replugging your modem (dialup/adsl/cable/satellite or whatever you have) and (if applicable) your router. Reboot your computer, and try again.

I plugged it in and followed the wizard instructions

Did you try to go to different web sites ? If not try that. Also try and clean out your internet cache by deleting temp files and cookies, close your browser and re-launch it. Run your anti-virus and spywares.

if that doesn't work try this;

Reset your modem and router. Unplug the power to your modem then unplug the power to your router, wait for 10 seconds or so and plug the modem first, wait for the led lights to become solid, then plug in the power to the router.

please let me know what happens....
