Camera Problems!!! My computer won't detect my camera!

I received a new camera for an early Christmas present and installed its software (the driver and media gallery it came with) and when I plugged it into my computer via a USB cable the computer simply did not detect that it had been plugged in. I searched for the device but the computer did not pick it up. However, when I accidentally pressed 'PC Cam' it worked perfectly well as a web cam. Can you help? Thanks

did what you said. i think the problem may be with the driver i was supplied with as it does not install properly. i just don't know how to get it to install properly! When i plugged the camera in normally it makes a noise to recognise it. whenever i plug in the camera it doesn't so i don't know what's wrong! my computer meets all the requirements so i'm puzzled. thanks for trying though. does anyone else have any ideas?

I've got the same problem on my Samsung L200 camera...and I consider myself a pretty technical guy when it comes to this sort of stuff...

I've got a clean install of windows xp pro, fully up to date with windows updates, a fresh install of the drivers/samsung software, and when i plug my camera into the USB port, nothing happens.

I've tried this on another computer as well, running vista, with no luck.

any suggestions? I'm at my last ropes on this takes a decent picture and works well, easy to shoot and all, but not being able to do anything with the pictures makes it completely useless.

The first suggestion may sound silly - but, check if the computer has a usb2.0 port. and on the camera box, minimum system requirements should be posted - comfirm that your computer meets those minimums.

try uninstalling using 'add/remove programs' in your control panel, and reinstall the program that came with the camera. Then restart the computer

Www kodak com go support

Marie, For every camera that someone wants to connect to a computer, there has to be installed a program on the computer. The program came with the camera on the CD. Perhaps you thought only the manual was on the CD, but no.
If you already dumped the CD, just goto the Kodak website, register your camera and ask for the easy share software. you can download it for free. Because it will only work with a Kodak camera.

Always first install the software, then connect the camera.
Once the software is on the computer, the program is self explaining. It even starts up (should start up) as soon as the camera is connected via the USB cable.

My camera when i hook it up to my computer won't work now because the computer says the driver isn't installed. It has worked before but isn't now. My camera is a JV100 and my computer is a...

Please open the control panel >open program and features> Now check if the camera driver is present in the list. Is so click to remove/uninstall the program.
Once this is cleared restart and then connect the camera once again to check if this is detected. If not try with another PC to confirm if the fault is with the camera or the PC.

Many cases people just connect things expecting bells and whistles and that just is not the case, that is why was born. Your pc only will detect certain functions of the camera not all functions will work as one would expect. This whole pc connection is to transfer the video off the camera so it can be edited. All of the software, manuals and drivers are available on Canon's website.

ZoomBrowser is the the only software that may present installation problems if a previous copy is not already installed on your computer. Any old copy of ZoomBrowser will allow the most current version to be loaded from Canon.

Cannot download my Kodak DC280 software.

It's not compatible with Windows XP and will cause you nothing but problems. Let windows automatically detect your camera with it's own software.

Software drivers

A driver is a piece of software used by your computer to communicate with a particular peripheral, like your camera or scanner. If your driver isn't updated or properly installed, it may stop your camera from communicating with your PC. This could lead to an abundance of error messages. Drivers are regularly updated, and new versions can help fix problems and bring a significant improvement in performance. There are two main reasons to upgrade drivers. Incompatibility is the most frequent problem solved by a new driver release. And new drivers optimize the communication speed and task sharing between a processor and a peripheral. A new driver can increase performance as much as 50 percent. You can sign up to receive notifications of driver updates from HP.
