GE Harmony Electric Dryer - Blower Motor Not Getting Up To Speed

Been having problems with oru GE Harmony electric dryer taking forever to dry clothes. Sometimes it would dry and the next time it would take forever. Now it won't dry at all. You can hear the drum turning, but it DOES NOT sound like the blower is working. The repair people would just say check your vent. Well, we have taken the vent off and cleaned it and what we could reach inside the openings in the back of the dryer and inside the dryer vent opening. Very little lint at all

I decided to check for an messages so I pressed Home, Help, and held My Cycles and Back at the same time. I checked the diagnostics message and it said "The Blower Motor Is Not Getting Up To Speed". What does this mean to me? Does the blower motor need to be replaced?

My dryer was doing the same thing. The blower would stop more and more often. My wife was complaining that it was taking longer and longer to dry clothes. So i just spent my saturday evening tearing into this dryer and figuring out the problem. After removing the blower motor, I noticed there was a good amount of string wrapped all around the shaft inbetween the cage(fan) and the motor itself. I blew out the best I could any dust inside of the motor and vacuumed all the junk inside the dryer itself. My wife just ran 2 loads and said that it is drying just as fast as when we first purchased it 5 years ago. here is link that will give you instructions on removing the motor. http://www.partselect.com/PartDetail.asp...

On all the ones I've seen with this problem, they've needed a new blower motor. Don't take that as the golden answer because even G.E. tech support doesn't know. It could be the control board, but I haven't seen that yet. G.E. always recommends replacing the inlet thermister, which is accessed through a little cover on the back. Good luck & welcome to the wonderful world of complex electronic appliances.

You need to replace the blower motor. It says you are having temp problems because the blower is quitting and the heater is overheating.

Tip

Service Mode for GE Harmony DPGT750EC

To find out what all of those sensors in your dryer are reporting, you have to enter Service Mode. To do so,
  1. Power on the dryer...or press "Home" if it is already on.
  2. Press "Home" and "Help" simultaneously until the dryer beeps.
  3. Choose your type of drying cycle and begin it.
You will notice on the bottom right of the screen a bunch of numbers. The top number will change constantly because that is the blower speed. If it is not getting up to @2,400 rpms, then you need to clean the blower blades and trap or take the blower motor out and re-solder all of the contacts inside the motor. Be careful and take note on taking apart the motor and putting it back together. Don't attempt this if you don't know what you're doing! Ask for help if you're not sure. And always unplug the dryer before taking it apart!!!

The numbers below that are the temperature setpoint and the actual temperature(air dry will result in zeros). The actual temperature should reach the setpoint unless the blower motor is not running- safety feature. Extra low setting resulted in a setpoint of 42 degrees Celsius? on my dryer, Low setting was 67 degrees C, Medium setting was 83 degrees C, High setting was at 100 degrees C. Other sensors include humidity sensor, vent temperature sensor, line frequency reading under OK VOLT(@60 US, @50 Europe), voltage(200-220) and countdown timer in seconds(last row). If the voltage is roughly half, check both breakers!

I hope this little tip will help you in your repairs!

Problem drying

no, what setting do you have the dryer on? is the dryer getting hot? if it is set correctly and is heating as it should then you need to check the vent hose, it is probably restricted with lint. Be sure and clean it from end to end.

My dryer isn't heating very well and makes a noise when running. The service person told me I need a new blower motor. I'm not sure if he is correct in his diagnosis and not sure if I trust him. Does this...

yes that sounds about right.if the element was bad you would get no heat.when a blower is bad it takes forever to dry clothes because the moisture is not being blown outside.

DescrI have a GE profile harmony electric dryer model #dpgt750ec1pl. About 5 minutes into a drying cycle the blower shuts down. There is still heat but no air coming out of the dryer duct. Any suggestions?...

you should not have heat when motor stops there is a switch in the motor to shut the element off....yours is not working(you could burn your house)replace the motor.
PLEASE DO NOT TRY IT AGAIN...can't be lucky all the time
