I have latitude dell c610, when I power it on it tell me it can see the hard drive and that the cd rom is not properly fit it whilst its properly fit in. now when i take out the cd rom it tell me that it cant see the hard drive

Have you tried going the SETUP to verify that the hardware is properly detected? To do that, turn the laptop on and pres the 'F2' key. That will start the machine in SETUP Mode. Verify that the HDD and the CD-ROM drive are found. Save and & exit and the PC will restart. Try this and let me know what happens. Then we can look at what else needs to be done, if anything. ~ Spoem

what OS ? check the pins on the back of the CDROM and make sure that none are bent (look closely from all angles) this is common that there may only be 1 bent pin and it will not work
